So I have been to the end of the internet and back in a search for accurate information concerning penile implants. I know that most sites boast a 90% or more success rate. Then they go on to mention how many are still functioning after 5 or 10 years. These numbers probably aren't inflated too much but I can't find statistics/information that break things down and possibly help potential patients make decisions down the road.
Specifically information on how high is the revision rate? How many are from mechanical failures? How many are from botched surgeries? Which one, AMS or Titan, has a higher failure rate straight out of the box and 5 years down the road.
Of the 6-8% that implant were unsuccessful for.. why? What factors were integral to the failure? Were the patients older with too many health issues? Was it inexperienced surgeons?
How many still report pain 6 months out or a year? Again, is that age/health/surgeon related? I saw that for Dr. Eid and Dr. Kramer the infection rates were well under 1% for those who are non-diabetic.
I'm certain the more experienced the surgeon is and the healthier a patient is... the higher the overall success rate will be. I'm asking because it's really hard to get a good "snapshot" from FT posts. Men with "issues" are more likely to start threads looking for advice or vent their frustration. I started my search after reading yet another post where a gent has to have a revision after only 3 months. If I just went off of what I've seen here the revision rate seems pretty high. Couldn't help but wonder what the "actual" revision rate is and what the causes were.
Has anyone gotten any insight from Doctors like Eid or Kramer on these questions? Thanks for any answers.

Re: Numbers
Every single question is spot on. I have had my implant now 3 months and am thrilled. The AMS LGX done by Dr Broderick at Mayo in Florida. What I would do is actually write to any one of the surgeons you mentioned like Eid. Or to Browderick or the heads of Urology at Mayo in Phoenix or Rochester, MN. You will most likely not receive much information here from the men here. They are well meaning but like anyone of us, only familiar with what we have had done. Your questions demand a sit down interview or consult. I choose to ask those questions directly with my surgeon with my wife present and we all looked online for answers all over the course of about a month and a half. I was satisfied that all was fine to proceed. The possibility of failure or break down was sufficiently minimal to proceed. Now, I am older than you and I figure if it lasts 20 years., when I am 85, cool, and in the meantime, great sex. Also, considering that after 9 years with ED and no hard on and no sex, I had all to gain. I have a great size now and that again is better than a simple chubby before. Ask those questions. Make the decision based on the answers and your age and what you have to gain. The best to you.
I also did not like pills and the pump and refused the injections.
