Your psychological condition can play a part but the correct injection dose will generally overwhelm your psychological condition, so yes, the shot (correct dose) will work regardless.

Well if you didn't get the correct dose it won't work. Some guys require a much, much stronger dose than others. If the person who administered the shot "missed" it won't work. And don't assume that just because a medical professional of some sort gave the shot they know how to do it correctly. You could have a very bad venous leak and shots will never work. Probably some other possible causes too.

The alprostadil, the active ingredient of Caverject, does cause varying degrees of pain in a fair percentage of men. This decreases over time with many of those men, with experience. A certain percentage of men just can't tolerate alprostadil. As you have the pain with or without the injection I doubt this is your issue. Other than that I have no idea of the cause of your pain and I suggest it's a question for a medical professional.
