Getting implant
Hello everyone... I am waiting on a predetermination from insurance for an implant. I can still achieve a decent erection but it doesn’t last long at all and I also have some buckling during penetration because of a few procedures gone wrong for congenital curvature. Should I get an implant considering I still get hard? I believe I have venous leak because when my wife rides me, I instantly lose my erection but if I’m on top, it’s ok. Can someone please give me some advice? My stretch length is almost 7 inches. Can I expect most of that if I get implant? Thanks

Had congenital curvature 35 degrees to the left. Decided to get a penile excise and graft with plication procedure... no help. I now have ED thanks to procedure gone wrong. Looking forward to an implant now and awaiting a predetermination.

Re: Getting implant
Have you tried oral medications, penile suppository or penile injections? Those do not destroy your erectile tissues. Implant procedure destroys or severely damages/compromises your erectile tissues. It is usually a good idea to try less invasive treatments first. There is research going on for better solutions than the current crop of implant devices. Maybe even a genuine cure (implant is not a cure, it is a treatment - a pretty good one, but not a cure by any means).
When I first joined FrankTalk I read through a couple years of posts to learn of other men's experiences. I recommend you take a weekend to do that -- and not just the implants section. The General Discussion, Injections, Young Members, Vacuum Erection Devices categories will also have a LOT of information that will enable you to understand our answers to your questions.
I look forward to reading your future questions.

It's really hard to weigh in meaningfully on your situation from my view, chiefly because you reference "a few procedures gone wrong for congenital curvature". I don't know what that means and, even if I did, I know with certainty I am not remotely qualified to render an opinion on what impact those unknowns would have on your trying injections or considering implant. Most of us here would not be qualified to give reliable advice on that.
You said you're waiting on an insurance pre-determination. Meaning, presumably, you've found a surgeon who is on board with implanting you, is that correct?
What does that surgeon say about the above? Have you been absolutely blunt with him/her about your day to day experiences with your dick, as you outlined above?
You say you can still get a "decent erection". I could, too, after 9 years of injecting, but there were multiple considerations which were personal and very real for me and which ultimately led me to pursue my implant. Intense injection site pain. Development of injection site fibrosis/scar tissue. Decreased erectile quality and duration. I was, in my own estimation, for me...at the end of the line of what I decided I wanted to tolerate for myself and for my wife. You didn't address any experiences injecting so I don't know if that's an option for you or an already-failed (or, to be avoided due to curvature) modality. Injections can be complete magic if you're a good candidate.
This all depends on how you work out all the above math for yourself and for your partner/relationship, you know? I don't know what a "decent erection" means, real world, for you or for your intimate relationship with your wife. This is a tough, personal thing - deliberately laying out the pros and cons for each of you and then for you both as a couple, and force ranking those considerations. Prioritizing what you both agree, together, is most important to address. Maybe your wife is ok in missionary with you on top. Maybe riding cowgirl is really important to her. Maybe you both want a hell of a lot more variety and so the current status quo is definitely not ok. You said erection duration is not great anymore, so that's got to affect you both...but only you can answer how much this impacts you and how you rank this with the other considerations.
If you have history of curvature and of prior corrective surgeries...it's entirely possible that an implant is inevitable for you and that it would possibly be your best odds at normalcy of appearance and function. Lots of guys here have had those experiences, for sure.
Just trying to give some discussion starters here. You have a lot to consider. Use the search function here and read your ass off on keywords and conversation threads which are of most interest. Everyone will help to the extent we are able.

Re: Getting implant
Thank you guys so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. I’ll explain with a bit more detail what happened to my penis.
I was tired of having a crooked penis ( 35 degrees to the left ). I did my research and saw Dr Brian Christine in Birmingham, AL. He suggested I get a penile excise and graft procedure. We went ahead with it. After procedure, my penis was left extremely disfigured and with hourglass. It was so bad, he had to repeat the procedure. After my 2nd procedure, things did not improve. Not only was I disfigured, but I experienced buckling during sex. I also had nasty sutures that almost penetrated through my penis and bothered my wife during sex.
Dr Christine then suggested I go see Dr Dean Knoll in Nashville. It took 3 more procedures from Dr Knoll to finally get my penis almost straight. However, because of all the devolving of penis, I lost some sensitivity and my erections are not like they used to be. I am currently taking Cialis along with viagra. Even though I feel like my penis is rigid, my wife tells me it is not as rigid as it used to be. I still have buckling during sex and it’s extremely aggravating. Even after taking viagra, I can only stay hard if I’m on top of my wife. If she’s on top, my erection goes away. I reached out to Dr Knoll again and he told me if we perform another de-gloving and graft procedure is contraindicated. He says the only way to get a straight, rigid penis is with an implant. So now we are waiting on my insurance to give the thumbs up to go ahead with an implant. Dr knoll has performed over 7000 implants and is a very reputable doctor. I personally like him and trust him a lot. Again, thank you guys for your feedback

Re: Getting implant
With that more extensive clinical history, it sure does look (to my non-professional semi-medical mind) that you are destined for an implant in the future. That is no known (or on the horizon) treatment will remedy your symptoms and that "normal" sex is impossible right now. A Vacuum Erection Device with constriction rings might enable a semblance of normal sex, but that is a poor second choice.
Having said all that, since an implant appears inevitable, waiting only delays your return to sexual function. There is no good reason for that.
While you are waiting for approval, document EVERYTHING. Every contact you make, date and time and person you talked to. Remember to call them by name when signing off and thank them for their time and for their efforts on your behalf. (People like to feel helpful and the more YOU make them feel that way - even if they weren't - the more likely they will be to be helpful in the future.) When you recognize their voice in the future, use their name. People like to be remembered and if you remember their name, they are more likely to remember yours. I found my surgeon because a travel nurse remembered my situation and volunteered some information she did not have to; simply because I was nice and she was nice.

I am 41 and my wife is only 32. My main concern is, will my wife be ok with it? Is there anyone out there with an implant that has a young wife or girlfriend? If so, is she happy with your implant? I am really looking forward to a straight, rigid penis but constantly worry if my wife may not like it. I have spoken to her about it but she seems a bit spooked by it. I am in the process of getting a predetermination from my insurance and then plan for the procedure day. When I get my procedure scheduled, I will be posting before and after pictures incase someone out there experiences the same problem as me. Please let me know what I can expect after my implant and what concerns I should have if any. Will I regain my girth after losing some due to hourglass? Thanks to everyone who takes there time to answer me. I really appreciate it
My girlfriend VERY much appreciates that I have an implant.
Women do not make love to the penis. They make love with the MAN. Very few women in a loving supportive relationship will balk at her man's penis (whether it works, is ugly, is beautiful, small, large, limp or rigid). As far as her being "spooked" by it, that is not uncommon. I started a thread asking how women felt about a "penis with a dildo installed in it". (Note: Some members here took exception to that characterization. Please don't let the crudeness of the language put you off. It was meant to be that way because the thoughts I was soliciting would be so.)
Most answers were positive. In all the threads I have read on FrankTalk and in other support groups (Reddit and Urotalk.com/forums among them) women who disdain their man addressing a problem proactively are rare. Women APPRECIATE a man who admits where he needs help (asking directions of a stranger, consulting assembly instructions are two classic examples) and is willing to do what it takes to GET THE JOB DONE.
I believe your wife's reticence is entirely due to lack of knowledge. Let her read the posts here on FrankTalk and she will begin to understand. Here are a few threads that might help with "getting her feet wet" (no pun intended, but since it was there, I thought I would let it stand).

Re: Getting implant
My wife was weirded out by it and she still will not squeeze the penis to deflate the implant but this week I finally got her to both inflate and deflate my implant, minus the squeeze to get the saline out.
