Hey guys-
I've really appreciated reading various perspectives from different men in the process of deciding to go bionic and through their surgery. I am scheduled for August 8 with Dr Kramer so I thought I'd share how I got here.
I've had ED for many years. Mine was not an all on or all off version. Sometimes it worked..other times not...even though I was with someone that turned me on. It was if "he" had a mind of his own. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. I tried pills and very early on tri-mix (in 2000). I'm a gay man so an erection hard enough for intercourse wasn't always required. Over time things slowly got worse. I wasn't sure if it was age or a change in my condition. I started using tri-mix more often to be sure I had something to offer...and even though it didn't always work either.
Last year while dealing with BPH I had a conversation with urologist about my issues. That's when I started to consider an implant. I ended up speaking to 3 surgeons and landed with Dr Kramer. I'm lucky in that I'm in Wash DC so I don't have to travel to see Dr Kramer but now that I know everything I do...I would travel to have him do the surgery. The other surgeons had "their" way of doing things. One would only use AMS...the other would only do an ectopic reservoir. I was interested in Titan because of its supposedly more rigid. That could be important for anal sex. I'm in shape and have a flat belly. I didn't want a reservoir that was visible. Dr Kramer will use either AMS or Titan. He'll recommend but he wants to hear what the patient thinks. He adjusts based on what the patients needs are.
When I went to see Dr Kramer he offered to hook me up with another patient of his who had just completed his first followup visit. That made a huge difference. To have an unvarnished look at the process. After I still had more questions he pointed me to this site which has been really insightful. Sure there are questions some ask here that a doc could probably answer but the point of this site for me is hearing from patients and their myriad of experience.
Here's the video I saw that introduced me to Dr Kramer and showed me the differences between AMS and Titan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PPId-OVzag
You might want to go seek out his site. There's lots of great info on there about the process..the difficulties and how best to recover (from his point of view of course).
If there's any piece of advice I'd offer it's to find a surgeon that has done this procedure a lot and can adjust to what your particular needs will be. I'd also look for one that has dealt with revisions before. The reason being they have seen the outcome of mistakes and/or unexpected outcomes.
I'll add to this post once I've had my surgery. I'm open to show and tell (once past surgery) if someone in the DC area is considering this. Or can do a skype show and tell if that's helpful to guys.

I enjoyed reading about your journey!
You are lucky to have a top surgeon and a wealth of information on this matter. (I had neither but doing okay.)
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
