This issue has been bugging me for years; certainly it couldn’t be all psychological because I had no psychological issue just on my own before ever trying to get with a girl. I’ve had self hate and blame as well, worrying that my technique of masturbation where I squeezed my dick between my thighs, was to blame for my seemingly terminal condition. I’ve been assured by urologists and posters on here that this method definitely wouldn’t have caused permanent damage. How did you conclude that you actually DID have a physical leak problem? I’d rather have a solid sex life for the next 20-25 years with an implant that fails than wait til I’m in my late 30s to address this and settle for a partner who may not be ideal
I suspected I might have it for a couple of years but it wasn’t until I had to do some ultrasounds where they inject you with trimix to try to give you an erection before I officially got diagnosed. The injections didn’t work very well (they never did for me, neither did pills) and they were able to measure the blood that was flowing out as being abnormal.
My belief is that whatever you’re physically doing to your dick isn’t the issue. For me I always believed the root cause that led to the venous leak was likely a brain issue but not in the way it’s usually discussed, where it’s blamed on a combination of stress, depression or anxiousness. I stopped having morning wood when I was 18, there is no emotional explanation that makes sense for that. Something happened in my brain that screwed up the mechanisms that make an erection happen; was it overstimulation and desensitization from pornography as the NoFap people say? I don’t know. It seems possible but I never found any definitive proof. I would sometimes make it two months without masturbating and see legitimate improvement in my erections, but within like a week it was back to normal as soon as I started again.
Again, I’d really encourage you to exhaust all alternative options before getting an implant. I’m really young to be getting one at 31, 23 obviously even more so and you’ll probably have difficulty finding a doctor who will perform the procedure on you until you jump through the other treatment hoops first anyway. Ultimately though it is good to know there is a permanent solution that will work, it just comes at a price.
I hear you 100 percent about the mental thing. People on that NoFap forum sound confused at times. I’d imagine not looking at porn for 6 months would be enough to bring you back to normal erectile function if you in fact did have a porn problem. I see it as a deeper issue. Let’s keep in touch man!
