JohnHC, that's really good news ! I've been using mine for 6 months and it's worked great. So I think if I interpreted your message correctly, that means that mine doesn't have the defect ???

Yes that's the way I understood it. The tubes being pushed in too far during assembly caused them to narrow meaning that it is difficult to inflate and deflate. If you can inflate it without issue and it deflates ok then you should be fine. The button being hard to push is NOT a reason in the recall, and the recall is voluntary - so if yours works fine then no need to replace. These are hand assembled so someone probably just pushed them in too far during assembly and it might not have been every one they assembled and that's why it's only certain lots and certain serial numbers.

Man, I see my number on the list. I don’t want to go through that surgery again.

Who pays for it?

Crazy - confirms my suspicions about folks having issues with the new Tenacio pump over the last year or so. I'm glad even though i was excited for it, went with the old MS pump back in Jan at the request of my surgeon. I imagine Dr. Patel like Dr. hakky is not happy about calling folks that he did implant with defective implant with this terrible news.

I just got this pump installed. I looked at the recall list but all I see are catalogue numbers not serial or lot numbers

Update : I talked with my Dr and a BSCI rep about the recall. They described that less than 2% of the devices on that list have had a problem. They both said that the issue was identified and resolved, and, that if your pump is working it is not affected by the recall. For me, my Tenacio pump is on that list and its worked fine since the procedure in Feb.

Ok well then that's good news. I haven't even started cycling yet but was thrown when I saw there was a recall thinking oh crap. I put a call in to my urologist but haven't heard back yet. So even yours is technically on the list it's still working fine for you. That calms the nerves a bit

From what Dr Hakky said, Boston would pay for it all

Valdekio, yeah nobody wants to hear there's a recall. But in this case it appears to be a very isolated problem. And while I understand why this generates a lot of concern, I really like mine. The size is right, pumps fast, deflates predictably, and works reliably over and over and over again.
