silkyfox wrote:Hello FT, This is my first post. Been reading for months and have gained so much knowledge. Like all of you I have a history of ED. Pills, shockwave and shots. I am about 1 month from my implant surgery 8/14/25. While I am excited for the implant, my emotions run hot and cold. I wont back out and yet deciding to have my manhood cut open works against my idea of common sense. Because of FT I have a good idea of what my out come will be. Pros and cons. Such a great addition to what the Dr's have explained. I'm 57, and in great shape, for me I decided on the Coloplast Titan. That being said I have a few questions.
1. How long after surgery did you sleep on your back? I am a side and stomach sleeper.
2. Walking the first couple days? Could you get around at all?
3. Dr. says I will be about 40% inflated. How did you all take a leak and not piss all over the toilet.
4. I go to the gym 6-7 days a week. Yes I know I cant lift for a time, however how quick can I get back to doing something?
5. I'm self employeed, I gave myself 2 weeks at home to recover. I can pick and choose what I do at work, but after 2 weeks am i gonna be able to return to work? (I know we all heal differently).
I understand most of this can be found by reading, however there is so much to read and I feel asking direct questions should help with finding the answers I'm looking for. These are the questions that return to my mind time and time again. Thank you in all in advance, I am so lucky to have found FT and a very loving supportive wife.
Welcome silkyfox. Yes it's a big decision, it took me probably 12 months to finally commit to an implant. But in hindsight, like many others have said, I should have done it much sooner. I'm sure you'll be fine and I wish you well for your surgery.
1. How long after surgery did you sleep on your back? I am a side and stomach sleeper.
I'm mainly a side sleeper. The initial week or two I used a small pillow to stop from rolling. I think I gradually just slipped back into side sleeping as the pain receded a bit.
2. Walking the first couple days? Could you get around at all?
Yes no problem. They got me up and moving around in hospital the morning after surgery. I took it easy but resumed very light activities at home more or less straight away. Walking and moving in general was much better than sitting down, as any pressure on my testicles, perineum, shaft etc caused most of my discomfort. I had to travel to an event by public transport 6 days after surgery which included walking for 15 minutes or more each way. No problems other than the discomfort of stowing my erection discreetly.
3. Dr. says I will be about 40% inflated. How did you all take a leak and not piss all over the toilet.
I was much the same, left 30-40% inflated for the first 6 weeks until activation. I immediately went and bought a 1 litre wide mouthed water bottle at the supermarket. I pissed into that for the first week or two so that it didn't go everywhere. If going out I would squat slightly and stand very close, aiming down as much as possible but still allowing the urine to flow. Eventually I ditched the water bottle and used that technique at home as well.
4. I go to the gym 6-7 days a week. Yes I know I cant lift for a time, however how quick can I get back to doing something?
I'm still pretty active and used to lift light-ish weights, but haven't for a few years. My doctor said nothing strenuous for the first 6 weeks but the advice seems to vary a lot. Go with your own surgeon's protocol.
5. I'm self employed, I gave myself 2 weeks at home to recover. I can pick and choose what I do at work, but after 2 weeks am i gonna be able to return to work? (I know we all heal differently).
I'm retired so it wasn't an issue for me. My working career was office based and I think I would have been fine to go back after 2 weeks.
