Dr. Perito and rear tip extenders
Dr. Perito and rear tip extenders
For those of you who have used Dr. Perito, does he use rear tip extenders and, in general, did you find that the length was the same after the implant? I saw that Dr. Eid doesn't use rear tip extenders because it can cause wobeling over time
35 year old. Implanted by Dr. Hakky 4/29/19. Coloplast Titan 22 cm, no RTE, genesis pump
Re: Dr. Perito and rear tip extenders
I can't imagine NOT using rear tip ext. Even with a Titan that would cost you length unless you happen to have a perfect fit. I asked the AMS RN about them pre surgery. She said that the optimum was 1/2 the proximal measurement. No rtes causes erosion and too many causes your hang to flop down.
My personal feeling is that if my implant fit perfectly and gave me my natural length I would rather have no rtes. I don't believe that it would cause erosion. And you would have the benefit of the entire prosthesis to inflate.
Just my opinion

Dr. Eid and I talked for over an hour and he mentioned RTE's several times. He didn't say one way or the other if he uses them BUT, the ONLY way to get the proper fit for some men is to use the RTE. If the necessary size is in between the cylinder sizes, if you don't use RTE's than you are either undersized and your glans will probably be wobbly or you will be oversized and the tips could cause pain and maybe even poke through the glans. Like them or not, they are a necessary evil, that's why BOTH COMPANIES have them and advocate for them.

Re: Dr. Perito and rear tip extenders
I was told by the last surgeon I talked to that at least as far as the titan was concerned that at least he tried to minimize them to 1 rte plus the implant. If the measurement would allow it. Since the titan comes in 2 cm increments, he usually only has to use 1. He did say that some body types would necessitate the use of more than one but only if needed in order to get the tubing and pump situated where it needs to be in the scrotum. Even then you have to be careful not get the noninflatable part to long or it will cause issues. Just what one dr said mind you.
18 cm plus 1 rte titan installed March 2019. Revision March 2020 by Dr. Andrew Todd, Richmond KY. He replaced the titan with an AMS 700 LGX 18 cm cylinder plus 2 rte for 20 cm total length.

Perito does infra pubic procedure. Tubing enters penis on the top. Scrotal approach,( dr Eid) tubing enters at the bottom of penis. Learn the difference before you decide on the type of procedure. Extenders are used more on pubic approach for tubes to miss the pubic bone.
