prostate removel

Postby rancherejim » Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:23 am

Has anyone here had prostrate cancer and removal after they have had their implant? I just has some lab work done and my PSA came back as 22.7. They said probable cancer. Had my implant put in 7 months ago. Sure hope it don't screw up my really good working implant.

Cant help you on your question, but get a MRI guided biopsy at a large cancer center or university hospital. Don't do the 12 core crap shoot biopsy. See a google site called Healingwell.com and click prostate cancer to get lots of answers about treatment. Radical Prostatectomy is not always the best. Of corse Luperon that kills your testosterone is not what a guy with a new dick wants either.

I had the RARP but before the implant. I think a skilled surgeon can work around the implant. Having hernia surgery this week and the surgeon said she never repaired a hernia on anyone with an implant. I told her the implant dept was just across the street and she needed to see my implant dr and get educated. Same university hospital.

Good points! I was offered different kinds of radiation but Lupron shots went along with it. Also, once radiated, you are not a good surgery candidate if it comes back.

This sucks.

Just a few comments. I had surgery first. Zero PSA for 4 years. The Doc said i was cured. Then in year five a rapid recurrence that I was very lucky to catch when switching internists. 35 radiation treatments and 18 months of Lupron and I am 4 year zero PSA. If you stop the lupron within 18 months you will get most of your T back. I am just below normal now for my age.

If I had radiation first and it recurred, there would have been no options...I recommend that you do exactly what you have planned and get the surgery first.

After the radiation, my Tri Mix was no longer getting it done thus my implant which is awesome. I would think a good surgeon would have no problem working around your reservoir. The rest of the implant isn't in the way.

I sure wish that I had already gone bionic before I had my surgery and radiation...Ig would have been awesome to be fully functional throughout the whole ordeal lol.

Best of luck to you!

Good to hear all the comments. This site is very educational. Saw the Doc yesterday, he put me on antibiotics for two weeks then in 8 weeks get another PSA test. We will then proceed from there. Meanwhile no more testosterone shots. I hope I can keep my libido up and running. I like using my new dick.

Guys, please keep on topic. Answer the question that is asked, it is not necessary to reply that you don't know the answer. Some people make comments to new people about using the search feature but, going there NOT find your answer, must be frustrating. Thanks for you co-operation and understanding. :)

Thanks. I have surgery scheduled for January 15th. On a Tuesday. Proton and conventional radiation require Lupron for 12-24 months. Plus no real chance for surgery after. Do gave me a 99% chance of 15 year survival if I take it out.

Of course I am worried about keeping my 52 YO fiance happy. Plus worried about the incontinence, Plus thinking..."should I go to NYC to Sloan Kettering instead of keeping my date with the UT Southwestern surgeon who CAME from Sloan Kettering..."

Stressed to the max.

I fought with proton rapid arc and every other thing that’s out there. I finally said that I want the results not just the hope for a zero PSA I wanted a pathologist to slice it up and tell me we got it or we didn’t so I had it out Dr. Patel Celebration Florida. It’s out and zero but no erections damaged the nerves because the margin was to close to the cancer. But the implant works better than I expected. Also proton a few guys I know had it both have since had issues with the urethra needing surgery. The bottom line is I have peace of mind because of the pathology report it may not be for ever but al least I know what was there was contained and is now gone
