Larry,

This is a kind of old post from here, but he explains things, including the hinge effect, really well.

Make sure you get a good pump and practice. My erections are larger and harder than before. I get some hinge effect, but my penis doesn't really get too cold even after a good period of time.

If you dedicate yourself to making this work, it will.

Excuse my ignorance but, what is the hinge effect? I have seen it mentioned several times but I don't know what it is. :)

Larry

Its when you have an erection from the ring to the end of your penis, but not the part inside your body. While the penis is hard, its pivots a lot at the base making certain positions more difficult.

Does the band not hurt??

Larry

I would not call it hurt. but more like discomfort. The standard tension Osbon is only slightly uncomfortable; however, the high tension Osbon is a bit more is somewhat more
Uncomfortable but for the additional hardness, it is worth it. Bear in mind I have been using tension bands for over seven years so my dick has become well conditioned to the use of tension bands

I have not experienced the “hinge effect” but some guys experience a weakening of the erection at the base of their erections where the tension bands are located such that their erections droop at that point.

The rings are a bit weird at first. However, I use two which lets me use a lower tension. They don't bother me during sex, but I don't do the female on top position as I think it would be uncomfortable with the bands. I use two very thick ones due to my severe venous leak.

The "hinge" effect is from the ring that stops the blood flowing back out of the penis. The penis that you see is only about half of it, the rest is inside of you and attached to bone below your intestines. So when you pump up the "whole" penis will get hard, but all the blood below the tension ring flows back out of the lower part of the penis as soon as the vacuum is gone, only the blood trapped above the ring stays, so the penis kind of hinges at that point just below the ring.

I usually pump then slide 1 ring on, repump but then have to pull some of the ball sack skin back cause of ballooning, repump, slip on a 2nd band, a little more pump and I'm a rock. There's a bit of oof slipping them on and a bit of ergg taking 'em off especially if hairs get in the way. Cold purple dick too. It is just about 100% effective though but very little cum will be ejected. At least that's my experience.

When you incorporate the foam sleeve into the routine you barely notice the rings at all. Without the sleeve I can "feel" the rings when I happen to think about them.
However, I am usually enjoying the experience too much to notice any slight discomfort.

I usually pump then slide 1 ring on, repump

Have you cut the handles off the ring you put on first? I have found it easier to get the cylinder over the ring if the handles are removed.
bit of ergg taking 'em off

Using a foam sleeve makes removing them much easier. Using a foam sleeve stops the pubic hair problem. You take the sleeve off and the rings come off with it. Lube helps!

A razor will also solve the pubic hair problem and possibly make your S.O. happier.
