Titan deflation valve operation
Titan deflation valve operation
It seems that I read the Titan pump only requires you to press the release button once and remove your hand during which time the valve stays open and you can squeeze your penis to speed the deflation process. I do however seem to see video clips of men simultaneously squeezing the deflation valve with one hand and the penis with the other hand. Does the valve stay open or does it have to be held open?

Re: Titan deflation valve operation
I am a new Titan owner and just asked my surgeon this exact question as I had the exact understanding you explained. My surgeon said in theory the valve that allows deflation should stay in the deflate mode after pressing once, but he then said I should hold the button down and squeeze.
His explanation is that the valve is in deflate mode until you pump once to move the position of the valve to inflate but it is common for the saline to backflow. By pressing and holding the button it holds the valve in the deflate position allowing faster deflation. He also said that if the valve was not all the way open and I was trying to squeeze saline back into the reservoir it could cause damage and said it was just safer to hold the deflate to avoid any stress on the components.
I’m only a couple weeks post op and my bag is still really sore and holding the button hurts to much for me so I’m leaving it as is even if I have a little backfill. My surgeon deflated at the 2 week mark and wants me to leave it alone until week six. No cycling at all which is different than most peoples instructions.

Re: Titan deflation valve operation
My understanding is there is 3 model pumps. Each works differently. I've been told some doctors prefer one of the old models saying it is more reliable. Personally, I have no idea what pump mine is nor know how to identify it. How it works may be specific to the pump design also. It would be very helpful if the doctors provide all pertinent information on the specifics of these things. Milam's office provided nothing on my first implant. I only had what the student told me post op. AMS could provide me nothing either stating the doctors do not share that information with them. How would they ever do a recall if they have no record what was installed in you? When I ordered my records from Vanderbilt is was also vague just stating an AMS 3 piece 700 series was installed. Actually looked like they had copied the same form they use on everyone and just changed the name.

LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.

When I got my first AMS, I got a pocket card that had stickers from the individual devices. By the time I got the second device, they were not using pocket cards anymore but they sent me the "AMS PENILE PROSTHESIS PATIENT INFORMATION FORM (PIF). All the stickers were on there. The stickers have the Lot, Ref and another number that is not identified...I did some snooping on the AMS site using my numbers and have found the following; Go to;
http://www.bostonscientific.com/en-US/r ... nder.html#
Half way down the page you will see "Find your C-Code Now". In the down arrow for "Select Search Critera Now" select UPN. Then in the next window (to the left of SEARCH, enter your REF number from your walet card or PIF. When I did this to each of the stickers, I got a perfect picture of what was put in me. Sorry for the gang that have Coloplasts... maybe one of our members can search numbers from your walet cards or PIF if they give them to you.

Hope this helps.

Ali,
I still remember your video in Kramer website... You have got the " Touch pump"....
Yes, Coloplast has 3 different pumps: Genesis, Otr, Touch.
Genesis is the first pump and it's considered more reliable from many surgeons..

Re: Titan deflation valve operation
That was some great information Larry. When I asked Milam's office, I was told one of the nurses is supposed to record that information and did not. I was given a blank card. Nothing noted in the surgical record (nor at least the copy I paid them to send me) and AMS told me on the phone they did not have or record the info either. Like I said, in the event of a recall which happens from time to time on implanted devices ;pacemakers, knees, hips, aortic clot filter screens to name a few I am aware of, somebody needs to have that information. Top that off, Serial number and lot number are one way to know you have a genuine devise and not a knock off. I do not know if knock off dick implants can be purchased but certainly a lot of other medical supplies can as I ordered supplies for years till the FDA and post office made it near impossible to get; a way I could afford what I needed. Knock off plastic items are generally prone to fail in my experience.

In my case, I had to hold the valve while squeezing my dick when deflating in the first months. I also gave the pump a firm squeeze to reset the valve after deflating. And even then, I got some refill.
For some reason, this just changed. Nowadays I just press the deflate valve once for 2-3 seconds and that's it. No holding of the deflate button, no squeezing of the dick, no pressing of the pump bulb afterwards. My dick just goes down in a minute and stays completely empty till I pump it up next time.
My only explanation is that the device needed some break in period to work as intended.
I can even deflate with one quick, firm press of the deflate valve after orgasm while still inside my partner. This helps a lot if I want to appear "normal", as in my dick going soft after orgasm. However, most times I prefer using the advantage of the implant and keep going for a while...
