Any experience marrige counselling after RP?

Postby Reggieman » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:46 pm

Wife and I want to get some counseling from a marriage or other qualified counselor who has experience in working with prostate cancer survivors. Have any of you had any experience going through this? My uro at UCSF recommended one in San Francisco but that is 90 miles away. Too far for us to drive on a regular basis.

Curious about your experiences and your advice.
Retired. R.P. 2016. Bilateral nerve sparing surgery. Now use .15cc of Bimix twice weekly & anorgasmia, moderately incontinent. Wife no longer interested so go solo with Electro-stim using Erostek ET-312. Now am Type 2 diabetic.

Yes, your situation with RP is common on this board and it is tough on a relationship. My wife and I have dealt with the ED and incontinence since my RP. We talked about it and, as you know, there are psychological impacts for you and wife. We did not seek a counselor, but did find a great Urological Specialist and surgeon who understood this. Through our experience with him and some self education on what he proposed, the ED and incontintence are history. With impotence from RP and Peyronies and incontintence from RP (see signature for dates) it was clear for us after years of struggles that I get bladder sling for incontintence and implant for ED. Wish I had done it sooner. Since surgery I have not touched a Tena pad and have better erection than we have seen in years!
I am hopeful my story may help you find resolution.

Thank you for your comments and support. It's a tough nut to crack.
