only partial warranty on AMS device...

Postby wolfcreek » Fri Jan 06, 2017 2:12 am

I was talking to some implant hospital staff on the phone today and was told that AMS (now Boston Scientific) only replaces for free the broken part, and that the patient must pay for the rest of the device (apparently the surgeon won't replace just the broken part, but instead insists on replacing the entire device) .

I was under the impression that the entire device would be replaced by the company if it stopped working. Anyone have any info on this??

Whatever parts are replaced are covered, including the whole device if needed. If you want the whole device replaced during your revision, let your doc know. I'm sure your doc will replace it having been in use for 4.5 years.

Yes, but I'd prefer that the company not charge me for the parts of the device that are not broken. The lady told me that only the broken park is replaced free of charge, per the warranty (the patient pays for other parts if the entire implant is replaced).

Wolfcreek, I have not found anywhere they at lease AMS spells out the warranty in writing. Just what I have been verbally told from interviews with docs before my surgery. I would guess it would depend on how your doc handles it if something fails ,I would hope he would say that the entire device is garbage needs to be replaced so that it would be covered.

Ive had two revisions. Both times blown cylinders. Both times a whole new device was replaced under warranty.
