Cincinnatus five week update
Well, it’s been five weeks bionic. Recovery continues to go well. Major issue is pushing myself physically more than I probably should. Have been going to the gym and have been doing 3 to 4 miles on the treadmill. Last Friday, felt I really needed to do some core exercises. Have had a little abdominal pulling around the reservoir, so did not want to do abs. I used the lat pulldown machine and did 2 sets of 15 reps with 70 pounds, about a 30% reduction from my usual routine. Saturday, I woke up with mild spasms around the reservoir. As C_lab has accurately observed, we are still healing. Oozing around the incision is history. Am continuing to cycle twice a day for a minimum of 20 minutes or as long as I can before it starts to ache noticeably. When I first started cycling, I was erect and could not pump further with about 12 to 24 pumps. Now I am up to about 22 before I can’t get it to go any further. I’ll wait five to ten minutes and can generally get another two or three partial squeezes in.
All the sutures and surgical glue have sluffed off. We have fondled and touched. Am teaching the wife to operate the pump (inflation only). She is afraid she will hurt me. And she brought me to climax. This thing is gonna work! We will probably go for the “real McCoy” over the weekend, which will be a few days short of the six weeks. The only concern I have is pain from the cylinders. We’ll take it nice and easy and not do anything stupid.
I am inclined to join the discussion contributed to by Merrix, C_lab, moetheman and others regarding expectations and results. This requires some self diagnosis which is risky in a medical setting and even riskier in the psych realm. Nonetheless, here goes:
I am a good bit older than those gentlemen, my ED started as a result of BP meds (about age 60) and was kept under control for twelve years until my RPP by taking ten mg of Cialis. Post RPP, I couldn't get an erection until I started tri-mix injections about six months post surgery. For this reason I never felt inadequate or humbled. There was a cause for the ED and they could be dealt with.
I need to say a few words about a wonderful wife. She too enjoys sex. We believe you have to maintain a sex life and do so through experimentation. We have done about everything two people can do (and only two). We have toys, have gone to nude resorts and beaches. I have a frenum piercing, she uses a testosterone cream prior to sex. My wife has been fully understanding throughout this and has been nothing but supportive. Our sex live took a positive jump forward when I retired. The kids were gone, we had no concern about what we wear or don’t wear around the house. We could do it whenever, wherever and make as much noise as we like. After my RPP she was reluctant at first to make love as she was concerned I’d just get frustrated. We learned that you don’t have to have an erection to climax, you just can’t do it through penetration. We reverted to “toys, touching and tongue” with each taking his/her turn. She said it was really nice to have what she dubbed “Just for me time”. She did not have to worry about where I was and could just enjoy on her terms. As a result, when I was struggling with weighing the risks/benefits of implant surgery, she said she would be willing to stay with separate climaxes rather than going through the surgery. We both became frustrated with the ordeal of pumping, pills and injections. After three medical opinions and lots of support from the Franktalk community, we obviously took the plunge.
I think I was realistic about what I could expect, I had RPP surgery so knew about what to expect pre and post op. Many contributors comment on overblown claims about the various ED therapies. I am pleasantly surprised with the results. I agree with Merrix, it isn’t back to normal. My flaccid penis feels larger, it doesn’t hang at 6 o’clock, I do get some double takes even when walking in baggy pants (I’m no Godzilla)

). I’d like to get back to my regular workout routine, altho I have been able to play golf. My main worry now is the aching (it isn’t really pain) after having been inflated for 20 to 30 minutes. We were all told you could keep it up as long as you want and use it as long as you want. I’m just concerned that if the ache does not either go away or delay for at least 40 minutes, I won’t want to keep going. Again, we are still healing. My wife has noticed an increase in girth. I think I am ¾ to an inch shorter than pre- surgery. I do notice that my lower abdomen is protruding somewhat. That is probably residual swelling and will reveal more length once it subsides.
Am I glad I did it YES! Would I do it again YES! Is it perfect? No. It is a hell of a lot better than pumps, pills and potions.
