The woman on his staff who was taking my information told me he didn't do surgery anymore.. They're closed today, so I'll try again on Monday and ask again.

Maybe he realized he screwed up with yours and decided to get out of the surgery biz. ;)

With any docs outside a day's drive, I'd have a lot of time and expense just for the initial diagnosis and pre-op meetings. Way too much money.

I can't believe there's not a really good surgeon in Atlanta or Birmingham.

Dr. Brian Christine at the Urology Centers of Alabama in Birmingham is great. He did my revision. 205-930-0920
He does surgery two days a week, doing 8 ~ 10 implants a week.

jeremc, did you lose any length with his procedure, or have any other undesirable effects? Birmingham is just a bit over an hour away, which would be almost perfect. It's about the same distance as Nashville.

The surgeon in CA (the big name) is actually in network with my insurance. Unfortunately, Mountain View California is over 2200 miles away. I can't stand flying, and I'm sure there would be several office visits before and after surgery. I'd have to go live there for several months.

That's not necessarily true that there are several office visits before and after surgery. It's not uncommon for a patient to see the specialist for the surgery, stay in town for a couple of days for immediate follow up, then go home and received any subsequent care from the local uro if there are no complications. Dr. Karpman's staff is very good about responding to e-mails because they understand he gets patients from out of state all the time. Shoot them an e-mail.

There are only two companies that manufactor the implants---AMS and Coloplast--and both have websites that provide a list of doctors they approve to do the surgery.

Just type in where you live and you should get several names of doctors in your area.

I found both website to be a little clumsy but just from my perusal, this Urology Centers of Alabama seems to have quite a staff, especially this Dr. Brian Christine, who was mentioned earlier.

Good luck!

I don't believe that is true about Dr. Milam no longer doing implants. His website is still active. I would check further before writing him off.

LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.

Look no further than Andrew Kramer in Baltimore. After finding this board there were only three I would consider in the country. Couldn't be happier with him.

I agree with the Dr Kramer vote. I spoke with him by phone and email before surgery. Met him and examined day of surgery. Way easier and way better outcome than I could have ever imagined. We are all different but I would trust him completely.
69 year old with ED intermittently for years and consistently for the 2 years before implant. Tried everything. AMS CX 21cm+1 cm RTEs Dr Kramer 4/29/2015.

Don: I have gained length. My first implant was 21cm in length and got a new one two years later and this one is 24cm in length.
Brian Christine did my second one in Birmingham.
If your closer to Nashville, you might want to look up L. Dean Knoll. He's also a high volume Uro.
