Sertaline/Zoloft

Postby happycamper59 » Wed Apr 30, 2025 2:10 pm

Guys,
I got my implant almost one year ago and have been suffering from anorgasmia since then, maybe somewhat before. I have been chalking it up to the trauma caused by the implant surgery, and surely that had a lot do with it early post-op. It took a lot of work to get there!

Although it's been getting better, but still difficult, I am thinking the low dose (25 mg) of Sertraline (Zoloft) is now the culprit. I've been on that for about four years for anxiety. Although I've read in the Premature board that those PE guys use Sertraline and other SSRIs to help them delay, I didn't think the low dose would be doing it, but now I suspect it is!

Anyone else have an issue with SSRIs causing troubles? If yes, what is your dose?

Today I decided to halt using it and see if (in a few days) I have less "trouble".
ED worsened over 25 years, likely VL. Went through pills and injections, and results faded over time. Implant AMS 700CX, 21 cm, no RTE, on 6/3/24.

Low dose can improve but sometimes takes time after the change. Taking day yes day no can help too. Avoiding porn and not doing sex every day also get good results.

From my experience taking paroxetine, 10mg at begin becomes a nightmare to ejaculation, need more work (hastd work), hours and sometimes days. Improve after 4-8 weeks, and avoiding porn and doing sex only few days per week fixed. Reducing to 5mg also makes difference after some weeks.

Yeah, SSRIs like Sertraline can absolutely affect orgasm, even at lower doses like 25mg. It’s more common than people think, especially after long-term use. Some notice changes right away, others more gradually

I dunno -- I have been taking multiple SSRIs for years and never had an anorgasmia problem. But after the implant the problem started and persists 2 years later. But my wife has one every time which is much different than pre-implant. And then I solo the next day; i.e. not at all bad.
75, used pills, injections -- all lost effectiveness. Titan implanted by Eid in Feb '22.

I'm certain that drugs do not affect everyone the same. However, I have read that many have DE due to use of SSRIs. The premature forum has antecdotes about using them to delay orgasm.

Anyway, it's been three or four days that I haven't taken sertaline, and hope to do a "scientific experiment" this weekend. May be too soon, as the chemical may still be inside me. But I will find out!

Much improved! The finish did not take nearly as much time and effort. It was very noticeable to me and my missus. And that's just 6 days post-Sertraline. So I confirm that Sertraline/Zoloft is a preventer, as I had guessed.

I still would like something for anxiety that does not cause anorgasmia. Any suggestions?

Happycamper: Vigorous muscular action creates the body's own feel-good hormone. If I'm anxious I run a mile. But you don't have to go to that extreme.

Martin, you are right, but that may only last an hour or two after exercising. Those chems released don't last. I do exercise regularly. However, I think I need a low dose of something for anxiety. Just don't want it to screw with sex, which then causes anxiety, etc.!

My wife switched from an SSRI to Bupropion (Wellbutrin) and that made a big difference for her. My urologist just started me on 75mg Bupropion (a low dose below what is usually prescribed for anxiety/depression). The Rx is purely for improving orgasm so we shall see.
