Finally had the procedure done by Dr. Eid this morning after five years of struggling. Just laying on the hotel bed now with a lot of ice. So far, just a bit of discomfort, mostly from where the catheter exits. Really looking forward to Monday to get the catheter out and see the results. I think Dr. Eid told me what I got while in recovery, but I was so out of it I don't remember. I can tell that things are certainly different down there. I may update this as things progress.
Thanks to everybody here for all the good information and making this decision and experience much smoother.

You bet. Since I followed your surgery by Dr. Eid by about a month, I'll just give my impressions and if anything significantly differs from your experience.
Day 0 follow-up: Everything at the hospital went very smoothly - I was Eid's first patient of the day. The entire staff was wonderful and helpful. After all the prep, I got wheeled into the very cold OR and sat sideways on the table. The anesthesiologist described what was about to happen as he hooked up the IV and oxygen canula, told me to sit up straight until he was ready to proceed, and I don't remember anything else until the recovery room. I think Dr. Eid talked to me there, but I don't recall it at all. Left the hospital uneventfully and returned to the hotel. Took a Percocet as recommended before bed in case the spinal anesthesia wore off. Kind of a fitful nights sleep, but not that bad.
Day 1: No real pain at all so far. Just a lot of uncomfortableness from the catheter and from all the dressing packed under the jockstrap. Just a little bit of an ache from the reservoir area, but that is only when getting up or moving around. Overall, I'm amazed that I'm really not having any pain issues, and haven't even taken a Tylenol today. Hope it stays this way. One thing I noticed last night after the surgery that surprised me was that I felt my balls moving up and down, like they normally do with that tingling feeling. Slowly moving up and down completely normally with the extra friend packed in there with them. I guess that's a good thing! I have an appointment to get the catheter out on Monday, and that will be the first time I see what's down there and get to try it out. Can't wait! Until then, just staying in bed as much as possible and keep things on ice.
Thank you all again and I'll update as neded.

Thank you for this report, Tuscon_Order, I am right behind you with undergoing this procedure. Mine is scheduled for 14 May.
Did you do anything special to prepare yourself?

You are scheduled with Dr. Eid? Just follow his preop protocol to the letter. I also used a VED for 30 minutes/day for the last few months to keep the tissues healthy since I stopped doing injections. Dr. Eid and his whole team are wonderful. I wish you the best!

I'll update as soon as I know what I was implanted with. If I was told in recovery, I have no recollection. My appointment is tomorrow (4/28) to get the wrapping removed and I should find out then and see about starting to cycle. I haven't even been able to see the results yet.
