Now, I have kidney disease.

Anything goes when it comes to ED.

I've heard good reports about TURP. I'm no doctor, but I understand it does reduce or eliminate back pressure. Might be the key to getting well! I think they'll have a less substantial anesthetic than for a major operation, so I'm thinking you should come out of it ok. When are you going in?

(Well, you sure packed some young guy adventures into your three years! Seems like a fast promotion to E5. I spent my four service years sitting at a desk. Borr - - rring. Humdrum only relieved by ogling the young civilian typists. Think Miss Buxley. But my friend managed to get one into bed! I never had that gift of gab!)

They said around the 12th of June. I told the scheduler that I could be dead by then (semi-kidding). She said she would try to get me in sooner. I have an appointment at PCP for the pre-op tests since I don't have a cardiologist.
It would really be great to get through this and be able to eat again lol.

There were a lot of nice-looking women/girls where I worked in DC, but I didn't think any would be interested in me. I was very shy and insecure, and still am somewhat introverted. The women in the Pentagon were the prettiest. Funny how that worked.

I just got a call from my urologist. They were able to push my surgery up to May 15. I have preop on May 8.

I hope the TURP procedure gives my kidneys some time to recover and possibly improve.

tomas- Glad your doc was able to move the TURP up sooner. I can guess it's not an easy procedure. Hope it helps. And I hate having to wear a catheter! May 22 is my next step. Camera up the urethra to look in my bladder for more tumors.

Good luck Old Guy. They do seem to have a way to treat bladder cancer, but it's probably not fun.

My nephrologist was quite adamant that I give the attending physician in the hospital his card so he could see me.

I was seeing red flags and I hate Medicare milking.
I asked my surgeon if the guy had any business being there and he said only if there was a complication..

I don't plan to just let him stick his head in the door and charge Medicare hundreds of dollars.

I'm foreseeing trouble between the nephrologist and me.

The surgery is now at 5:30 on Monday.

I had my TURP surgery yesterday evening and it seemed to go well.
I had some discomfort afterward, but Tylenol seemed to blunt the pain.

A funny thing is I can't feel any discomfort in the prostate.
Maybe there aren't nerves there, or maybe they put pain med in the IV.

I spent an uncomfortable night in there, and got less than 1 hour sleep broken up in 5 or 10 minute increments.

They took a blood sample before letting me go, and my creatinine level was at 1.88. I calculated it to equal GFR of 32.
That puts me in stage 3 which is all I hoped for. I'm going to keep with the kidney disease diet, and I hope the numbers keep improving, or at least don't worsen

Wish me luck.

I plugged the Creatinine number into a different equation, and got a GFR of 35. That feels better. Tomorrow, Monday, I get the catheter out and I can't wait. I'm also planning to have labs done asap to see if I can start eating again. I've probably overdone the diet regimen, but better safe than sorry.

Congratulations, Tomas. Twenty-eight to 35 in a month sounds like a nice jump.

How did you discover the kidney problem originally?
