For Veterans With ED

Postby flyingduck2019 » Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:10 am

This post and the subsequent posts under this subject is for Veterans with ED. I have posted on this forum before for veterans and have recently had a snag in the process used to get my injections through Tricare/Express Scripts. I am waiting on some information from my compounding pharmacy (I hope to get it today) and then I will post again under this same subject. The post will be very long as I want to inform and explain what is going on. Hopefully, if you read the entire post it will assist you in getting your ED medications through Tricare/Express Scripts. My case only involves only Trimix but the same circumstances may very well apply to other ED medications.

I will post as soon as I get the information I have asked for.

Follow-on to my previous post: The following incident involves Tricare, Tricare for Life and Express Scripts which is the military version of a pharmacy.

Over a year ago I was given a RX for Trimix which is a injectable medication injected into one's penis shortly before intercourse to maintain an erection long enough to complete the sex act. It is a combination of 3 drugs and a sterile water for transport in a injectable medium and powder as a perservative. I found a compounding pharmacy in Los Angeles that makes Trimix and delivers it overnight for an additional $10. My first two orders of 10ml went just fine. About 3 weeks ago I got a new RX and had it sent to the same pharmacy. When the pharmacy tried to file a claim for payment with Tricare/Express Scripts they were told two things: 1. They were no longer on the list of approved pharmacies that could file a claim with them and two items listed above were not on their list of approved drugs.

The pharmacy informed me of what they were told. I called Tricare/Express Scripts and was told by the person I talked to that the pharmacy was in fact on the approved list but the two items mentioned were not approved. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, which I was transferred to. This lady, after I go through the entire set of events, tells me that since I am on Tricare for Life I must have the pharmacy contact Tricare for life and they will process the claim. I pass this information to the pharmacy and they do what we were told. Tricare for Life says NO, they only process medical claims. All this keeps bouncing back and forth goes on for a week. The pharmacy and I are emailing back and forth.

FINALLY, this morning the gal at my compounding pharmacy calls Tricare again and is again told they are not on the approved list. The lady at Tricare tells my gal to call Express Scripts. My gal calls and at first is told they are not on the approved list. Then the express scripts guy tells her to put in a different charge code and a override code and try again. THIS TIME, it goes through, the claim is paid and I will be receiving my 10ml of Trimix tomorrow.

NOW, for all you veterans out there that are not using the VA hospitals for your ED needs, you can go this route through Express Scripts and save a ton of money. The 10ml of Trimix I am getting costs me $33.00 plus a $10.00 overnigh delivery charge. If I paid out of pocket it would cost me $219.00. I am on a low dose, 10 to 15 units depending on how hard I want my cock to be and for how long. For 10 units per dose the 10ml will give me 100 injections. That's a lot of fun!

If you want to go this way to get your love juice just be aware that you may run into the same issues I have with this last order. The people at the pharmacy I use are on top of things but the idiots that answer the phones at Tricare and Express Scripts are not.

If anyone has questions or wants more information please PM me and I will do the best I can to help you.

I call express scripts and then Tricare both stated that one of the three drugs was not on the approved drug list. Express scripts says they had Eden but they do not have the facilities to do any compounding. Tricare said I could mail in receipt with proper form for some reembursment. Topical insurance BS.

Have you tried Edex? I believe that is approved by the VA and doesn't require a compounding pharmacy. Express Scripts will probably supply Edex.

Scporet----I don't know about edex as I take Trimix. I have gone round and round with both Express Scripts and Tricare about getting my Trimix covered. My first two orders went without a hitch and was covered minus my copay. The third order was drug out over 4 months because someone at Express Scripts didn't know what they were doing or what needed to be done to cover my order.
I get my trimix from a compounding pharmacy in Los Angeles. I live in Hemet which is about 50 mines away. After several attempts by the pharmacy to get the order approved and payed for they finally got in touch with a person at Express Scripts who knew what he was doing. Within one hour my order was approved and the pharmacy was paid.
I don't know all the ins and outs that was done but Express Scripts should cover your RX.

The first thing express scripts told my pharmacy was they were not on the approved list to file a claim. (Bull shit)! The second thing they said was one of the ingredients in the trimix was not covered (sterile water). (Another Bull Shit)!

Just in case you are not aware: Express Scripts is the pharmacy that Tricare contracts to provide pharmacy services to veterans, both retired and active duty if no military pharmacy is available. They do not compound as they stated, you will need to find yourself a compounding pharmacy.

Good luck and please let me know how things work out for you.

Plain Alprostadile “CaverJect” or “Edex” is on the formulary at least at the VA I went to as well as their mail order pharmacy.

They were both the same medication just difference in the syringe unit or at least in the 20 mcg size, that I used pre-implant. The advantage that I saw was that these two at least in my prescription was no refrigeration needed and everything came that I needed came in the kit.

Funny thing was the VA would only give me 4 tablets of what ever PDE was the cheapest ( usually Viagra) but the CaverJect they gave me 6 syringe units.
ED 20 years, Peyroine's Disease diagnosed in 2018, at 57 years I was implanted September 3rd 2019 at the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, AMS700 CX 21cm + 2cm RTE
