What is the best way to find a good surgeon?
Is there a national database/website?

I, also, would like a good answer to the original poster's question.

I believe that within the last two months we had at least some what of a discussion on how to find a surgeon.
Since you're in Utah. Who have you found so far?
How far are you willing to travel?
Do you have your heart set on a Titan?
Btw, the sugeons to select from in Utah are few. Travel might be required. Especially if you want a Titan.

Gt1956,

I haven't been active on the forum for the past several months and haven't seen the discussion you referenced.

For reasons, I won't be using a urologist for implant surgery in Utah.

I'm willing to travel anywhere in the continental United States that is safe (no rioting, no anarchy).

I don't have to have a Titan. I'm even willing to consider a malleable prosthetic if it meets my requirements.

Drs. I know of: Eid, Kramer, Christine, Morey, and Perito. None of them are very close to where I live.

I prefer an infra-pubic incision over an infra-scrotal incision. I'd like for the surgeon to take Medicare.

Dave: you might want to look up Dr. Karpman in the San Fran Bay area. He usually does infrapubic and is very well thought of. You might want to communicate with "Quincy" He used Dr. Karpman and was very pleased.

Thanks, Cincinnatus1951.

Dr. Karpman meets my requirements and he is closer than any other recommended urologist that I know of. I plan to contact his office.

Karpman fits all of your stated goals. He told me that he uses both AMS & Coloplast products. He does the infrapubic approach. And the nice part, he is only about 850 miles away. Btw, I believe that all of the doctors take Medicare. After all, many of their client pool are of that age range. I'm not a Medicare expert but I think that they might only cover the surgery at 80%. So co-pay might be required.
There is Dr. Brant in SLC. He does around 150 implants a year & is well regarded. He only uses AMS & does the scrotal surgery. A good option if you'd be willing to stay local & accept the scrotal surgery.
Search for posts by Quincy, he had very good results. Good luck.

Dr. Karpman did my revision last May and I'm very pleased with the outcome, and the whole process. I flew from Canada and it was the best decision ever. If you like more details as well as tips for travel/stay/etc, PM me and we could chat over the phone or email.

Niarcell, see poster ,dcmusic, He had an implant by DR Casey McCraw in Las Vegas. I think I have heard Mc Craw mentioned here before. Look up, Las Vegas urology, go to book an appointment by Dr and click. Find Dr McCraw, click on his picture and read his biography. Sounds like he specializes in implants.

Davegb.

1. Use the physician finder at the top of this website.
2. Use the physician referral lists that can be found on the Coloplast and AMS websites.
3. Ask your GP for a referral.
4. Ask your local urologist for a referall to an implant specialist.
5. Get a recommendation from somome you know who has an implant.
6. Search this site using the keyword "surgeon". Read the resulting posts, and start looking for patterns.
7. Research implant surgeons on HealthGrades and other similar websites.

I can personally recommend Dr. Laurence Levine at Rush University in Chicago. He did my implant, and I am very satisfied. I am a real patient recieving no compensation. But you need to do your own homework ... there are plenty of excellent implant surgeons in the midwest (Dr. Tobias Kohler at Mayo and Dr. David Paolone at UW Madison come to mind.)
