Covid 19 impact on waiting times

Postby Ruktitan » Tue Jun 16, 2020 3:53 am

Has anyone heard how long they will delay surgeries? Or has anyone been able to get implanted during this. My 3rd revision was booked for April and now I've not heard anything.
29 years old. Suffered with ED since 17. No known cause. First Implanted date 23/3/2018. Cylinders way too short and revised by different surgeon 2019. 22cm titan.
Cylinders still short and now pump is upside down and protruding. Awaiting 3rd revision

I suspect that the delay depends upon several factors.
The biggest factor is probably what part of the country you are in. If you're in one of the areas that is hard hit by Covid then good luck. It'll be quite a wait.
During my exam two weeks ago. My doctor said that in order to use the local hospital facilities. He had to submit each case to a review board that then allocated operating room time based upon the seriousness of the case.
If he used a non hospital facility. It was easier to get into but they are booked pretty solid because of the hospital backlog.
That is the best that I can tell. Of course this is my understanding about wait time in the USA.

Was scheduled for implant on 3/31/20 which was "postponed" because of virus. Talked to surgery scheduler for my urologist on 6/10/20 and was told hospitals are currently doing 50-60% of normal elective surgeries. Since penile implants are somewhat down the list as far as needed surgeries, she could only guess as to when I might be rescheduled. Was told that hopefully I could be scheduled somewhere around September, but that was only a guess. Had hoped to be up and running before I was 71 (July), but doesn't look like that is going to happen

Thanks for your replies. Yes I guess no one really knows and I can imagine it is low on the list in their eyes. Maybe i will chase them just so im at least higher on the list. I think if you dont make a fuss in the UK they will leave you waiting forever.
