I tried to post a link, but it breaks in the middle. It will be necessary to copy the address line below and paste into your browser.

or, try this link (I just now learned the utility of bracketing an address with punctuation breaks int the "URL" designators.)

Or do a web search for the title, "A Thematic Analysis of the Online Discussion Board, FrankTalk, Regarding Penile Implant"
I found a Medical journal studying FrankTalk posts.
I am posting this in "General Discussion" because, well, it is pretty general interest that FrankTalk is so well-known. Kind of a compliment to the forum. Thank you, Paul.
I am posting this in "Implants" because the medical journal made the study of posts in that sub-forum, so the relevancy there is high.
Interesting read.

Yes, I did and got the same error page. So, I revised my original post. It is necessary to copy the entire address, open a browser window and paste the address into the browser. Or, search on the title of the article.

Thanks, that got me to it. Maybe implanters will read FrankTalk and be more informed of patient concerns. My surgeons knew all about Franktalk and felt the bias to Eid and Kramer was over stated.Lost Sheep wrote:oldbeek wrote:Lost,Did you try that link? I got an error page.

What bias are you referring to?

The bias (I believe, with the danger of overstepping acknowledged) is that there are a handful of surgeons mentioned here while (according to my surgeon) told me "You will be overflying a lot of good surgeons if you go to the East Coast for surgery."
Note: My surgeon is published and has taught the procedure. He is quite expert.
Kramer, Eid, Karpman, Perito, Ostrowski in the USA, Ralph in the UK and Love in Australia are often mentioned here. Very few mentions of ANYONE else are to be found. But there are HUNDREDS of surgeons doing excellent implants all over the world, most of whom are never named here.
That is the quintessential example of "sample bias". (Note, sample bias has nothing to do with prejudice. There is a distinct difference between the two.)

I've noticed the bias also. Let a new member inquire about a surgeon & I can almost guarantee that two names will show up several times.
In an attempt to broaden the list. I've made several posts about possible methods to find a good surgeon. The top recommended guys are only human. They can only perform so many surgeries a year. They aren't getting any younger & are not immune to accidents, death or burn out. Plus It's a huge country, not every man can travel the distances needed.
It is my feeling that we should start looking to add to their ranks.
69yo, HBP @ 40, high triglycerides @ 45. Phimosis @ 57. Type 2 @ 60. Dr. William Brant May 1, 2023 CX 21cm w/no rte's penoscrotal 6" girth @ 6 months.

Eid and Kramer are so good, you should fly from the west coast to east coast to get an implant. That is the bias that so many guys were hyping here 2 years ago.

Yeah, I SERIOUSLY considered that option. Even enrolled in the Maryland VA system and emailed both Drs Eid and Kramer, lining up a local urologist to do the followup.
A nurse at my local V.A. assigned to do travel coordination, knowing what I was doing (I recommend being candid with everyone involved in your planning) clued me into an expert in the surgery being assigned to my local Air Force Base Hospital.
Log story short: successful outcome with a surgeon who matched Dr. Eid's exceptional attitude toward excellence and both Dr. Eid's and Dr. Kramer's willingness to communicate (and, I surmise, both Dr Kramer's and Dr Eid's surgical skills).
I would not call my original leaning towards the high-reputation East Coast doctors as "bias" of hype, but bias of selected-down information. When I got more information (from both Dr. Eid and that travel nurse), I elected my local guy.
Sometimes bias comes from prejudice. Sometimes it just comes from inability to gather unslanted and comprehensive information.
Kudos to you, GT1956 for your efforts to broaden the horizons here.
