Dr. Lentz UNC. anyone know about him?

I finally got my wife to agree for an implant and my urologist has recommended this surgeon, I live in Roanoke Va. so it will involve travel. Seems to have a good rating but not sure how many implants he does. I am waiting for my appointment date. Jim

Dr. Lentz is a great surgeon. He is experienced, doing approximately 200 implants a year. He does both AMS and Coloplast. I highly recommend you doing research in order to have a wide range of questions for him, such as, which type implant is best suited for you and why, pump placement, pre-surgery prep, infection risk, just to name a few. Dr. Lentz will take time to answer your questions.

His usual practice is to keep you overnight mainly for observation. My surgery was done at Duke Raleigh and I give the staff great reviews. Good luck on your life changing decision.

If you’re talking about Aaron Lentz he’s at Duke Raleigh not UNC. My wife and I saw him May 7 and he was great, answered most of our questions before we even asked them. Once we determined that I’m a candidate he ordered labs and his staff scheduled surgery and my 2 fallow up visits. We also talked to finance since our insurance doesn’t cover it.
He told me that I would spend the night inflated at the hospital and be released the next day after deflation.

If u don't mind answering how much did your surgery cost. I'm in the same situation no insurance. From what I've read 26-28k.

Bill for Lentz and hospital is just under $22k, we haven’t called the anesthesiologists but we’re guessing $2-5k for that. I did just get word today that our insurance won’t pay. So , we’ll be writing a check.

Did you let Dr. Lentz's office file your insurance? Sometimes it may take more then one time filing for insurance companies to cover the procedure. Allowing Dr. Lentz to submit why you need an implant, along with your medical history could change the outcome. Letting his office file again won't hurt!

Thx for the replies guys, I now have my consult visit set for July 30 at 3 P.M.
Yes he is at Duke my bad. It is great that he does that many implants, that will make my wife and me feel better! It is a 3 hour drive but my option was at the VA and my Doctor does about 4 or 5 a year, this is why we looked elsewhere.

Yes, I had his office submit Cigna but when I get home from vacation I’ll call and ask them to resubmit using your advice. It can’t hurt right.
