Just curious as to why of some things if ya know

Why - Dr Eid wants 3 days of catheter? Did you remove it before ?

When Did you remove the dressing from the hospital ?

Did you start bathing after 3 days ? More or less

Personally, I think the catheter is the worst part. :(

Craig,

You had surgery yesterday, so the protocol is to stay in bed with ice for two days, the catheter just makes that easier to do.

If you are still in NYC the post-op visit is on the third day. That's when bandages come off, the cath comes out, and probably you get activated by the doctor. You can then bathe without restriction. Stitches come out after two weeks.

I had to travel on day 3, so I removed the catheter, removed the dressing, and activated with a few pumps in and out all on day 4 at home. Smooth sailing after that.

I was uncomfortable with the catheter as well on Friday I had the surgery Saturday morning I sent Dr. Eid a text telling him about the discomfort his response was you can take it out if you like so I did . Monday morning at a my appointment I was pumped up and asked if I could deflate I did in the office. At that point I was told to cycle twice a day in the tub. The catheter was by far the worst part of the surgery. I don’t know why because I had one for three days after the RRP and it was not an issue the

When I had the major surgery to remove all of my penile shaft skin, poke my head through the scrotum for a month and graph a new shaft with scrotal skin, I had a catheter for a full month. It got blocked 4 times requiring an emergency room visit. The pain is absolutely unbelievable. The taught me how to unblock it but by the time I had to go to emerg, the pain was far too bad for me to inject more saline into the bladder. I agree with Dave52... the catheter absolutely SUCKS!!! :(

Mine was in for a day. The worst part was when the nurse removed it. There was hesitation on his part. I kinda let out a Yelp! Lol

I see advertisements for disposable catheters. Apparently there are people that need them for very long periods, maybe life. Wouldn't it be easier to just get a dozen & insert one when you feel a full bladder? Once you can get a urine stream on your own stop using them.
Does the use, for a few days, of a catheter depend upon what type on anethesthia is used?
I haven't seen either of these subjects discussed. If you know, throw your knowledge out to the masses guys.
