revision question

Postby Dustyknox » Thu Sep 21, 2017 7:29 pm

For those of you that have had a revision, did you find revision recovery more or less painful than the initial recovery?

Definitely the revision was less painful overall. Because of prior surgeries I always have an abdominal incision for the reservoir. This time the abdominal incisions was more painful than the first. Soon though everything was better. No pain medication on revision, in action at 4 weeks. So revision won hands down,

My first implant was pretty much a non-event. With the revision, I havehad several relatively minor issues and one major issue. Minor issues - extreme nausea from day 2 to day 10 following surgery - I think that was a reaction to anesthesia - never has that prblem before. Had alleric reaction to antibiotic Bactrim post surgery - upper body turned extreemly red and I itched for about a week. I had an infection of a portion of my incision - took 10 days of Clindamycin and am about healed. The major issue I had was apparently a hematoma which caused the pump to be pushed up into the highest possible place and it has now grown into that position. I am on my 10th week following surgery and have only cycled one time. It is almost impossible to release the fluid because the release end of the pump is buried in the flesh at the top of my scrotum. I will need to get a revision on the pump but surgeon says we need to wait 2-3 months till the capsule is completely formed. I think he will use that to help secure the pump in position.

Bill,
I'm sorry to read your experience. I can't imagine what you are going through. Hang in there. Is Dr Kramer concerned at all that you may lose size by waiting so long to activate?

Dr Kramer has been very good about staying in touch. He wanted me to come see him after he learned of the hematoma, but it is about a 775 mile trip so he called a friend, Dr Christine, in Birmingham, only 70 miles and had him examine me. We really haven't talked about size. I was about 6.5" in length with 5.75 diameter with my first implant. He upsized me a little so not sure what I will end up with the wait.
