Dear Friends,

This is a great forum for people getting implant and lot of motivation stories after getting implant.

I'm planning to get an implant surgery in USA. I stay in SE asia. My surgery scheduled on Sep 20th.

I have severe VL and peyronie as well. I'm 33 yrs. I have few questions on choice of implant.

I'm planning to get an Titan because of peyronie, but I wish for AMS since it's more natural in flaccid and ease of activation and deflation.

1) After surgery how much % were you inflated on Titan/ ams? And can someone notice your bulge in your pants when you goto work with Titan implant after 10days post your surgery? I wear business casuals for work.

2) when can you walk perfectly normal after surgery?? How many days to start running ?

3) Do people have more pain with Titan compared to AMS LGX after surgery, since Titan has bigger and heavier pump in Scortum and wider cylinders? How many days to be pain free after surgery.

4) is Titan more difficult during activation compared to AMS? Do most people have pain when first activated with Titan compared to AMS lgx and also more trouble in locating the deflate button and also deflating the device compared to AMS???

5) can you activate your implant device by yourself ? As I stay in SE Asia, so thinking of activating implant by myself? Any suggestions???

I have a Titan.... how much you will be inflated depends on your Doctor. As for it being noticed because of a bulge 10 days out, the answer is yes. Most everyone has some swelling either in the shaft or scrotum. Usually we all are kept at some % of inflation until activation happens. My case was 5 weeks.

2) when can you walk perfectly normal after surgery?? How many days to start running ? I was walking normal in about 5 days. A lot of it will depend on each person individually. Swelling, level of pain tolerance. I'm not a runnner, I have no answer to give you on that part.

3) Do people have more pain with Titan compared to AMS LGX after surgery, since Titan has bigger and heavier pump in Scortum and wider cylinders? How many days to be pain free after surgery. Again each of are different with our own recovery.

4) is Titan more difficult during activation compared to AMS? Do most people have pain when first activated with Titan compared to AMS lgx and also more trouble in locating the deflate button and also deflating the device compared to AMS??? My activation was not that difficult. I found my buttons easily, while most do not.

5) can you activate your implant device by yourself ? As I stay in SE Asia, so thinking of activating implant by myself? Any suggestions???
No advise on that...I think you should discuss all your concerns with the surgeon here in the USA ...have you already met with him ?

You will have several follow up with your surgeron. You did not say which country, SE Asia is very large. Your us Dr may know a surgeon in your country that could do your follow ups. Not to discourage you having it done here, but there are good surgeon around the world. If you go to the coloplast (titan)website you can do a search by counrty. I am sure AMS has something similar. It is best to discuss which implant and which procedure with your surgeron after he examines you.

You may not be cleared to go back to work in 10 days. I am a week and 1 day post op. I still ice most of the day , have not sleep in my bed, sleep in a recliner.
Wearing the support clothing is painful. Last night my wife and I had a little shopping to do and at dinner. While shopping used the electric scooter instead of walking, dinner parked at the front door. We were out maybe 90 minutes that did it for me.

If you have not watched any videos of procedures, the link in my signiture is of my actual surgery. My Dr explains it in easy to understand terms. There is some blood and the procedure is kinda brutal. The reason he did it that way was previous scar tissue to the scotum, plague and scaring, start of Peyronies, diabetes. He said it would be easier, less chance of infection and easier to keep clean. My stiches have not dissovled.
If your counrty allows pictures of male anatomy without considering it pornographic PM I will send you a link to my photo album that starts before going to the dr for first time, thru preop streching using a vacuum pump up to current photos

Heman99;

I have said it before, and I will say it again... you would be better off to leave this decision to the surgeon AFTER he open's you up and see's what he has to work with. It's not like purchasing a lap top, where brand may determine success. As for the rest of your questions, I will back away and let some of the more experienced members answer you as I only had my implant for 1 month before it was removed due to infection. I am being re-implanted Dec 7th and can't wait. I will say though, your timeline expectations are way off. 10 days is not enough for anything to be complete.

I don't really remember..... it all passed with time and becomes insignificant when you pump up and get to work :D

My surgeon give me my choice of implants and said I would get what I want unless something unexpected was found. Tell your surgeon what you want and discuss under what circumstances during surgery could change what you get. If you are not satisfied, find another doctor. All Urologist are not necessarily good implant surgeons. Try to find one that is SUPS (Surgical Urologic Prosthetic Urologist) Board Certified.

Good Luck

How about healing aspect of your implant? Does AMS heal faster than Titan with less pain during activation?

I believe the surgery has more to do with post-op pain than the implant. Then what you do with it (extent of post-op inflation, how early and aggressively the cycling, how effective preop preparation was, how skilled and careful the surgeon was and how well you followed postop protocols are all more influential than the type of implant).

Having said that, the two makers do have different materials and different approaches to infection prevention, o there might be differences, but I opine these differences are negligible in comparison to the items in my first paragraph.
