Lost sheep. I thought the same thing I'll be back in the office after a week. That didn't happen. The pain level will govern when you make it back in. As for hiding the Woody. I was never a big guy so it's not terribly noticeable with loose clothes. The pain will let you know when it's time. Two weeks and you'll be climbing the walls enough to get back to work at least half days. Best of luck.

As far as when to return to work, that was never an issue for me as I've been retired since age 58. I go out in public a lot though. Hiding the stiffie does present a concern. I bought several new expensive pairs of underwear at a sports store that fit very tightly but have a pouch of sorts at the front. They hold my stiff dick upright against my belly very nicely. I've never tucked in my shirts and have a few long tail ones I've worn most of the time. I can't imagine being back to work full time after even two weeks yet. I'm still mentally adjusting to a completely different feeling down there. I'm extremely aware of the new passenger whereas I never felt anything there before I had to dwell on like I am now. I will say this. If the discomfort keeps decreasing at the rate it has so far, nothing will hold me back from any usual activities before long. I'm no longer as concerned about recovery as I was a week ago.

Davekell,
I have enjoyed reading your great posts and thanks for sharing your journey. You have a great sense of humor and your positive attitude is contagious. ED totally sucks and I think most people don't realize just how much it impacts your entire life. When we are young and our junk works we take it all for granted. You don't know what you have until it's gone. I wish you a speedy recovery and looking forward to reading your future posts and hearing about your re connection with your wife. May you be back in the saddle soon.
Cheers.

The short version of my question is this: Would a man left inflated,post-op, to 80% be able to hide the partial erection by pointing it up and to the side under underwear that would hold the penis there? (This is what I used to be able to do with my teenage erections 50 years ago.)

70%? 60%?

If it helps, my erect size (inside a Vacuum Device is 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 inches. I am 5'11" and 200 lbs.

Thanks for the answers so far. Yes, I know to expect inability to sit up[ (or perhaps even think clearly) for a week or so post-op absent a miracle (or miracle-worker surgeon).

That is a high %... My opinion is that it depends on your activities during that period of time. Bending, etc, may be a challenge if you are in public places. At home, it is a no deal.

sedentary job, after 2 weeks, possible with great discomfort, after 3 weeks, should be ok. 3-4 weeks still very tender and sensitive to the touch. At least that was my experience. & should be no problem hiding it straight up in your loose pants. I had to modify (cut and paste) my david archy (and other) underwear to make them more comfortable holding it up without painful constriction. Had to get very creative.

Plumber,

Yes, 80% is the highest number I have ever heard. Most people are left at around 20% to 30% (by what I have read). However, a high percentage seems to me to be advantageous when it comes to cycling and retention of size. The Caraceni paper I cited a while back tested the virtues of early and aggressive cycling, but there was a high dropout rate because it was too painful.

A local surgeon who does implants in Anchorage told me he probably would leave me at 80%. I did not aquestion it because that was before I had done any appreciable research.

As far as bending is concerned, probably the most challenging would be getting in and out of my car.

Zxylpk,

About what percentage do you estimate did Dr Karpman leave you inflated?

Funny quirk about my company's leave policy...Employees cannot take ordinary leave contiguous with sick leave. Once my sick leave runs out, I would have to come back to work for a day and then take the rest of the time off as ordinary leave. Sigh. Bureaucracy.

Well, you can exhaust your ordinary leave days, report to work, and call it sick after an hour or so. They cannot make you stay working feeling unfit to work.
