Doubts

Postby aa2120 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 9:37 am

I am down the road to get a implant in early Nov. I met with the surgeon this week. He would do the surgery intrapubic and probably use the AMS 700LGX. We had a discussion about size and he told be not to expect to be as big as I was with a normal erection. He gave me all the warnings, but then was very optimistic that I would have a very functional sex life after implant. I liked the guy, but he told me he only did about 60 of these a year. Is that enough to be proficient? I need a hernia repair above the belly button and he was willing to coordinate with the other surgeon so I could get it done at the same time and have only 1 general anesthetic for both surgeries. The VED works for me to have intercourse, but I hate the thing. The pause to pump up, the rings that constrict and the limited time for love making. I am now beginning to wonder if I am doing the right thing. I am fine with the short term discomfort from surgery. I usually tolerate that well. Longer term, will it work for intercourse? will have any of the many problems I read about on this site? Please, give me your thoughts...

Ricky,
Welcome aboard!
Please take the time to read all of the input from guys with implants.
I would suggest you get a second opinion. If for no other reason than to get
some piece of mind.
Everyone on FT will give you the truth and respond to any questions or concerns
you could possibly have.
I don't know your age or circomstances that have led you to this choice.
I was implanted or 9/2. I don't think I gained any length but possibly some girth.
My wife says I did and she is the only one that really matters.
Also check out the chatroom and you will catch somebody there that most likely
is in the very same boat.
Best of luck to you.

Hi Ricky,

I developed Erectile Dysfunction in 2004 at age 65 Post Prostatectomy.
Viagra, Levitra and Cialis did not work for me.
In 2007 I underwent the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure and had an Abdominal Wall Hernia Repair done under the
same anesthesia. The two surgeons coordinated their schedules for me.
Both myself and my wife are very happy with the Coloplast Implant.
We are having some of the best sex ever.
My 4 year anniversary of the Implant Procedure will be December 13, 2011.
I know it is a big decision --- I was there too.
I wish you all the best.

Bob

Thanks Hockey and Bob for the support. Waiting to get date for surgery. I am going to pump up every until surgery to maybe give the Dr a little more size...really don't know if it helps. Surgeon was skeptical. Will be so glad to give that VED to some else.. I have attached signature so you know where I am at...

Ricky, I don't know if the pumping helps but some say it does, so why not? Can't hurt. I am 8 months out and have passed by "break in period by a month or so and I read some reports that the errection quality was not as good as a natural errection, so I was surprised to find that was not true in my case. The errection and ablity to penetrate is way more than you need mine is stiffer than I can remember being. so I think you have a 100% chance that it will work if it was implanted and sized properly. 60 ops a year doen't scare me but try to check out the doctors results to be sure. Most doctors who do this should have some, at least two or three people, they implanted that would be willing to speak for his work on them. If wasn't confident I would tell the surgeon I was anxious and ask him some names and numbers of patients I could speak to.
This is a big step and only a fool wouldn't be at least a little anxious. I hope you have the best outcome you are happy.

I will activate mine later this week, but right now it looks a whole lot smaller than it was before (and I know the implant activation won't make it much bigger). Most disappointing is the diameter (it looks much, much narrower than before). I am beginning to wish I hadn't had the implant already. I could get a really big erection with the VED pump..............

Thanks Ron. I going into to see Dr in same practice and I will talk to him about how I can find out about Dr. Brandt. Its too bad that there is not a place that you can go to to read about their mistakes or find out who the unhappy patient are. The one thing I know is that this Urology practice in the Twin Cities as an excellent reputation and probably would not keep a surgeon who made a lot of mistakes.
Dmikesaw. I thought that after surgery they only partially inflated the implant and didn't fully inflate it until activation...I would like to hear what you think after activation. I hope you will be a lot happier with the size.

Hang in there dmikesaw!
Look at it this way, "You don't need the whole tree just a good branch"
The anticipation and excitement will really be amazing. It will be better than
you can remember, of that I am sure!
