New Guy with New AMS Implant - trouble with bulb

Postby Aquaduct » Fri Feb 03, 2017 8:03 pm

On Monday of this week, I went back for appointment to get training and inflating for first time since surgery. Dr. Burnett, Johns Hopkins. Surgery date was Dec. 22. I've been instructed to inflate it as much as I can, 1 or 2 times a day about 15 minutes at a time, trying to increase as tolerated.

I am having a very difficult time squeezing the bulb to inflate. It is very difficult, and the bulb is hard. The bulb is not soft like the sample demo bulb they gave me. The videos on AMS site make it look so easy, like you can do it with two fingers, but I cannot. The bulb feels hard as a rock. It's hard to grab and pull down. I guess I'm still swollen in there.

I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Aquaduct,

Try pushing the deflate button first and make sure you are completely deflated. Then, your first pump on the bulb should be quick and hard. You should hear a "pop". Then you're set.

Good luck. I went through the exact same thing with my implant. It'll all work out.

Inflation and deflation are skills to be mastered. :? I hold the pump at the connectors at the base and pump with my right hand. The bulb will be hard to press for a while but it gets easier. :o Once you feel the 'pop' , you'll know the pump is activated. Short squeezes will pump you up. 8-) Pump as much as you can tolerate.

As Jim said.
Some days mine is harder than others. Those days I hold the pump between my little finger and palm of my right hand, squeeze with left hand and use the free thumb and finger on the right hand on top of those on the left for extra squeeze power. At first it is going to hurt some as your scrotum is not going to like it. Mine still kind of burns all day after a morning pump. When are they going to make these things: Flip the lever up it is on, Flip the lever down it is off?

I hold the base between my left ring finger and palm and then overlap both index fingers and thumbs to squeeze.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.

When I totally deflate my AMS (Letting it auto drain). :) :) I always get the 'pop'.
When I pump after a hot shower, the bulb is softer but it takes more pumps. :o When the bulb is firmer, I pump to max faster. 8-) 8-)

Auto deflate does not leave me at fully flaccid. Squeezing it down a tad more does.
