STD with implant

Postby william7 » Fri Sep 30, 2016 8:08 am

I seem to have caught an STD. As soon as I saw the discharge and redness, I was in the office being treated, so I hope I got it treated soon enough. They don't know which one yet, so yesterday they treated me with antibiotics for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis. I also have a 3 piece inflatable implant going on a year and a half.

My question to the board is:

Has anyone else had one of these STDs with an implant and did it turn out ok, without having to remove the implant? A day in and I still have discharge and redness, even though I was assured that the medication should work fairly quickly. I'm concerned about the infection getting into the implant area and infecting the implant.

Anyone with this type of experience offering advice would be greatly appreciated, If concerned about privacy, please send me a private message. Thanks!

this is an excellent question. weather an std or just some weird infection, how does an infection from another source affect an implant.
ED for 20 years. Used injections successfully until 2015. Injections no longer work. Some scarring from injections. Viagra etc never worked. PCa in 2009, treated with radiation. So far so good but between injections and radiation penis lost about 1 inch.

My implant physician seems to think that any infection in the groin region has at least some potential for infecting the implant. He is now my regular urologist and he worries about a prostate biopsy, not needed yet, causing an infection in the implant. I would get right on any concerning symptoms and push for being medicated as aggressively as possible.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.
