Am I Pumping Correctly?

I have been cycling my new implant for 18 days and I'm wondering if I'm doing it correctly. I've been trying to pump to the max, as prescribed. At first the pump is hard as a marble, then gives way with subsequent pumps, getting easier as I continue and the erection grows. At a certain point, the pump gets hard as a marble again and I am unable to pump anymore, despite pressing hard with both hands. Is that how it's supposed to work? I was of the belief that when pumped to the max, the pump is supposed to "flatten out" when equilibrium is reached between the reservoir and the cylinders, meaning I've pumped to the max. Am I pumping correctly? I only had a quick appointment with the Dr.'s assistant to show me how to pump, so I'm a bit confused.
Technical info: Coloplast Titan 24cm cylinders, 125cc reservoir, (new 2013/2014?) Titan Touch pump (NOT OTR)
