I think it's about $$$ (or £££). My surgeon, whom is also my urologist, was quite dismissive of my questions and concerns both before surgery and afterward when I thought my implant might have been short-sized. A doctor cannot learn compassion (aka "bedside manner") from a book. It has to be part of the person's makeup to begin with.

I wouldn't call my surgeon all warm and fuzzy, but he was open, honest, direct and willing to answer all of my questions, as well as my husbands. I was given very detailed instructions, both verbal and written covering the pre and post-op protocols. My first follow up was two weeks following surgery, when he covered every step of the process going forward. I find it unconscionable how some doctors are so uncaring and disconnected that they just send men home with very little, if any instruction.

Mine referred to me as "Doctor Google" (or people like me) because I had done so much research online before making the decision to see a doctor and get an implant. He said sometimes he wished that he had his practice in some podunk town (I paraphrase) instead of affluent Plano because his patients wouldn't act like they know so much.

Mind you, he knows his stuff and is a good surgeon as well, but he never explained for instance, how I could have a 15cm implant when my penis is barely over 15cm in total length without not short-sizing my implant or at least not going all the way into the proximal corpora. He said, "No, the rear tips are fully into your crus." But to be fair, even the surgical notes he finally gave me state that he had to make the right corporotomy incision very long proximally, to clear out some scarring before he could get the right rear tip to properly seat.

Surgeons are known as the least compassionate of Doctors. Internists, pediatrians and psychiatrists, the most skilled in "bedside manner". It stands to reason. Surgeons deal with problems that are solved with mechanical intervention using tools. Simple, direct, in-and-out. Not as much nuance as the other specialties in medicine.

Hello Scooby. I see you live Fort Pierce Fl. I would love to get more information. Pills and Injections stop working. My Urologist did inform me about prosthetic Implant. I would like to talk with you to get more information. I’m grateful that I found this site.
Looking forward to speaking with you. Thank you

Hey brother. I live in Jupiter. 13 days post-op and doing great. I flew to Houston to have mine done by Dr. Clavell. My urologist (Cleveland Medical) in Stuart offered to do it, but he does very few and I didn't much care for either his lack of experience or his bedside manner. Very happy thus far. PM me if i can help.
