Hey Bionic Bros and Implant Enthusiasts,
I created a searchable directory of Center of Excellence Penile Implant surgeons recognized by Coloplast and Boston Scientific, for anyone interested.
I personally prefer flying to a high volume surgeon who implants 1 billion devices per second (just kidding), but sometimes we might need local center of excellence offices for 2nd opinion consults or to keep the travel logistics simpler.
Currently, it covers only the USA. I’ll update the list with global centers if anyone can provide sources from the manufacturer websites. I’ll include Rigicon as well when official listings are publicly available. I’ll update the list on a monthly basis. I’m keeping it behind a password to reduce bot or search engine traffic.

Re: Center of Excellence Directory
lasthope 2.0 that is a fantastic tool! I was hoping to find equivalent data for Australia but sadly it seems impossible. I'm not surprised as I found it an uphill battle to get information on surgeons when researching my own implant. With the help of some targeted AI questions (and many corrections by me!) I've put together the following, which has significant limitations, and can be used as a rough guide only. Whether it's worth adding the handful of Drs identified to your database I'm not sure. It's likely I've missed some, and of those identified probably only six of them could be considered relatively high volume. It's a very different landscape to the US. But I could get the contact details if you think it's practical. Otherwise I can post this in the Aussie support topic.
"The Problem"
Australia does not have a single, unified national consumer directory for high-volume penile implant surgeons. Because of strict Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) rules against patient testimonials, medical advertising, and tiered specialist rankings, finding centralized data is incredibly difficult for patients.
The Australian Penile Implant Directory "Guide"
Finding an experienced penile implant surgeon in Australia is incredibly difficult. Due to strict AHPRA regulations, there are no public rankings for surgical volumes. Furthermore, official resources are functionally useless:
Top High-Volume & Mentor-Level Surgeons by State
Victoria (VIC)
Melbourne is a hub for advanced prosthetic urology:
Dr Christopher Love (Melbourne - Restore Urology / Holmesglen Private Hospital):
A/Prof. Darren Katz (Melbourne - Men's Health Melbourne / Holmesglen Private Hospital):
New South Wales (NSW)
Dr Ross Calopedos (Sydney):
Dr Peter Katelaris (Sydney - Katelaris Urology):
Prof. Phillip Stricker AO (Sydney - St Vincent's Private Hospital / St Vincent's Clinic):
Queensland (QLD)
Dr Greg Malone (Brisbane - Brisbane Urology Clinic):
Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
Note: Because Canberra is close to Sydney, many ACT patients travel to NSW to see high-volume specialists. However, for local care:
Dr Hodo Haxhimolla (Garran - National Capital Private Hospital):
Tasmania (TAS)
Note: Tasmania does not host a high-volume prosthetic center. Complex revisions or severe fibrosis cases are routinely referred across Bass Strait to Melbourne. For local primary consultations:
Dr Frank Redwig (Hobart - Hobart Private Hospital):
Dr Raj Gogia (Hobart - Hobart Private Hospital):
Northern Territory (NT)
Note: The NT has no resident high-volume implant specialist; traveling interstate to Melbourne or Brisbane is standard for surgery. However, local device management can be anchored here:
Darwin Urology (Darwin):
Western Australia (WA) & South Australia (SA)
Note: High-volume prosthetic surgery is less centralized in these states. While local capital city specialists perform primary implants, patients with complex corporal fibrosis or those requiring difficult multi-component revisions frequently choose to travel to the established east-coast centers (Melbourne or Sydney).

Finding an experienced penile implant surgeon in Australia is incredibly difficult. Due to strict AHPRA regulations, there are no public rankings for surgical volumes. Furthermore, official resources are functionally useless:
- Coloplast Australia does not host a doctor directory at all on their site.
Boston Scientific's locator lumps all urologists into the "ED Specialist" category. Many of these do not perform penile implant surgery at all, or fewer than five implants a year. Some may be uncomfortable even discussing prosthetic surgery. But it may be a starting point for locating an appropriate practitioner.
Rigicon hosts the Rigicon Global Reference Center on their international site, which has a referral form that you can complete and submit online, filtered by country. It states:
"Our private clinic matching service connects you with expert prosthetic urologists in your area who have been vetted for their experience, outcomes, and patient care."

Victoria (VIC)
Melbourne is a hub for advanced prosthetic urology:
Dr Christopher Love (Melbourne - Restore Urology / Holmesglen Private Hospital):
- Profile: The highest-volume penile implant surgeon in Australia.
Credentials: The only Australian surgeon awarded the international Prof. Steven Wilson Center of Excellence for Penile Implants designation and operates an official Coloplast Centre of Excellence. He is a prominent early adopter and highly active implanter of the newer Rigicon series alongside Coloplast and AMS devices.
A/Prof. Darren Katz (Melbourne - Men's Health Melbourne / Holmesglen Private Hospital):
- Profile: An elite, high-volume urological and prosthetic specialist who serves as the Medical Director of Men's Health Melbourne.
Credentials: Working alongside Dr. Christopher Love, he co-developed, perfected, and published the Minimally-Invasive No-Touch (MINT) penile implant technique. He is heavily utilized for advanced erectile restoration, complex reconstructions, and patient education.
New South Wales (NSW)
Dr Ross Calopedos (Sydney):
- Profile: US-trained directly under world-class prosthetic urologists. Highly sought after for complex corporal reconstruction, advanced erectile restoration, and multi-component device revisions.
Dr Peter Katelaris (Sydney - Katelaris Urology):
- Profile: Exceptionally experienced urologist running a dedicated reconstructive prosthetic and ED clinic in Sydney.
Prof. Phillip Stricker AO (Sydney - St Vincent's Private Hospital / St Vincent's Clinic):
- Profile: A titan of Australian urology, Chairman of Urology at St Vincent's Private Hospital, and pioneer in post-prostatectomy erectile restoration.
Credentials: Previously ran the largest Sexual Dysfunction Clinic in the Southern Hemisphere at the Australian Centre for Sexual Health. He is an exceptionally high-volume prosthetic specialist who has performed over 500 penile implant operations, making him a major referral point for complex post-cancer rehabilitation and device placements.
Queensland (QLD)
Dr Greg Malone (Brisbane - Brisbane Urology Clinic):
- Profile: A primary surgical mentor and trainer for American Medical Systems (Boston Scientific). Has performed more than 500 prosthetic surgeries with a highly successful, tracked clinical record.
Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
Note: Because Canberra is close to Sydney, many ACT patients travel to NSW to see high-volume specialists. However, for local care:
Dr Hodo Haxhimolla (Garran - National Capital Private Hospital):
- Profile: An experienced reconstructive urologist who specifically offers penile prosthesis and implant surgery locally in Canberra, having trained at the Coral Gables Institute.
Tasmania (TAS)
Note: Tasmania does not host a high-volume prosthetic center. Complex revisions or severe fibrosis cases are routinely referred across Bass Strait to Melbourne. For local primary consultations:
Dr Frank Redwig (Hobart - Hobart Private Hospital):
- Highly regarded urologist and former Tasmanian Representative Director on the Board of USANZ.
Dr Raj Gogia (Hobart - Hobart Private Hospital):
- General urologist with a designated special interest in Men's Health and urological devices.
Northern Territory (NT)
Note: The NT has no resident high-volume implant specialist; traveling interstate to Melbourne or Brisbane is standard for surgery. However, local device management can be anchored here:
Darwin Urology (Darwin):
- While the resident urologists handle general men's health, their clinic incorporates dedicated Nurse Education pathways specifically for penile prosthesis management, providing a critical local resource for post-op device care and troubleshooting.
