Condoms are not one size fits all.

Gents,

It’s hard to believe that I am 51 and just learning that condoms come in different sizes.

I’ve hated condoms my whole life. As a life-long venous leak sufferer, there was nothing worse than actually managing to get a woody and then having to fumble around and try to get a condom on. If I did manage to get one on and keep my erection, it felt like my dick was shrink wrapped. It was not pleasant. Like many other stressors, I learned how to avoid condom situations as much as possible.

Since I was implanted, my aversion continued. I have had a vasectomy, am fanatically tested every six weeks, and am on PreP, so that I can convince my partners that I am a worthwhile candidate for going raw. It mostly works, but occasionally I have to put one on. My dick feels like it gets stuffed in a sausage casing when I do, but at least my erection stays!

I’ve never thought of myself as particularly big. My length is just a bit over 6 inches bp. So I never thought I needed large size condoms.

But at 6 inches circumference, it turns out I am pretty girthy. And that width issue is what matters more. Yes, condoms come in different lengths. But the real issue is getting the right width, so that it is not constricting.

It turns out that there is some wide variance in condom widths available.

“Standard” condoms have a 52mm nominal width. 54mm and above are generally marketed as some sort of large size condom.

For example, Trojan Magnum’s are 54mm. Generally the most available “large” condom, they are really not very large at all, at least when it comes to width.

Trojans come in different sizes:
Trojan (52mm)
Trojan Magnum (54 mm)
Trojan Magnum Large (56mm)
Trojan Magnum XL (58mm)

Who knew? I didn’t. A year or so ago I decided to get a box of Magnums. They felt a little better, but still sucked.

Just recently I learned that they got a lot wider. So I did some in-depth research. It turns out at 6in circumference I should really be in the 60mm plus category, definitely 60-64 and maybe even bigger.

I worked my way up to the Skyn King Mega Large XXL (which is an absurd name, but whatever) at 60mm, and the material is non-latex so it has more give. That’s about the largest you can walk into a drugstore and buy; larger are internet order. They fit better than anything else I’ve tried, but are pretty long and therefore bunch up at the base on me, which is not great. And they are still pretty snug.

So then I discovered MyOne condom, which you can order to essentially your width and length specifications. 52 different size combinations! I ordered the 64G, which are on the way. I’ll let you know how they feel.

They have great resources on sizing you, and will even send you two free condoms to try out your size.

Anyway. I thought this would help other dudes like me who are completely unaware of sizing issues with condoms. And if your dick has gotten girthier due to your implant, it may be that you need a different size.

Thoughts and ideas and knowledge on condom sizing issues welcome!

MyOne is definitely the best condom out there. Went through many types, brands and sizes in zillions of countries and planets then somehow stumbled on MyOne and never looked back. Still go raw a lot since am taking DoxyPep and am on daily Descovy so am not worried much but if she still insist on the condom MyOne is like not having one on anyway.
