Cycling advice?

Postby HardTimes26 » Wed Feb 18, 2026 7:59 pm

This week marks six weeks since my implant. Today my surgeon showed me how to cycle. I definitely need training wheels! My model is the AMS 700. The pump is hard as a marble. When I try to squeeze it, it hurts as if I'm squeezing my testicle. (Maybe I am!)

It doesn't help that my shaft and scrotum frequently have a burning sensation. (Separate post.)

Any advice on how to get the ball(s) rolling?

I also started cycling at 6 weeks. Yes it can be very uncomfortable, and various forms of discomfort can persist on and off for weeks to months in my experience. Initially it feels very foreign to suddenly have to pump your ball sac to get an erection, with strange objects floating around in there . But it's important to know that it will eventually feel perfectly normal, the pain will get better and ultimately disappear altogether. That might happen fairly quickly once you get into a rhythm or it could take longer. My advice is simply to take it slowly at this stage and do whatever you can tolerate. Pump slowly and as firmly as you can. It's not a race, and if it was it would be a marathon. So best to pace yourself. You are probably not squeezing your testicle, but do play around with the bits in there and get to know the location of all parts of the pump, deflate mechanism, tubing etc. They are now part of your body and you'll eventually treasure them :D.

Regarding the pump, I have an AMS 700 LGX with the older model MS pump. It's a well proven device that looks like a tiny hand grenade, but it can be stiff to operate initially. Mine was, but loosened up fairly quickly with regular use. If you have the newer Tenacio pump my understanding is that it should be a little easier to press. I had an initial routine of cycling twice a day for 15 minutes in the shower. Running hot water over my ball sac and shaft helped to soften the pump and also reduced the discomfort. It's definitely worth trying that. Some guys prefer to do the same thing in a hot bath.

Whatever you do keep going now that you've started, don't stop unless something is really not right. In that case always consult your medical team.

Thanks for the encouragement, LGXDownunder. Will try the hot bath/shower routine.
