EU INFORMATION, self payer, no insurance cover

Postby richard_goes_bionic » Tue Nov 25, 2025 12:29 am

Hi everyone, I just had my surgery and I want to share my experience as a self payer. I had a year of research and preparation.

About the doctor: From the first consultation until follow up after surgery everything was very professional, empathic and relaxed.
The Dr. cares for his patients this also shows in his reviews. Goes under the best in France and Europe.
All major player speak English but you only have contact with the Dr. and his Italien Dr. for anesthesia.
I was fully asleep and no complains after wake up what so ever. Perfect job.
The clinic you stay is privat.
Nurses speak more or less English but they only supply you with painkillers.
Had a double room, small like all rooms in Paris, :D poor food but you survive.

Price: 11.500 Euro, incl. 2 nights stay. no extra cost for follow up by the dr. with 2 consultancies at his office and now weekly follow up via WhatsApp. 4 weeks from now I can choose to be onside for start of cycling or doityourself via video consulting.
Good information for aftercare and provided with medication.
If complications you can call the Dr. day or night.

According to my research this is at least halv the price like other high volume surgeons charge throughout Europe and even more in the USA. It's actually less because 50% of the amount went to the hospital incl. the implant which was priced for 3k.
This pricing should have something to do with the healthcare system in France. I did not make more out of it and it doesn't matter, just enjoy the huge discount in France.
If your insurance is not covering your surgery and you don't want to go to Turkey or Egypt, Paris is calling with love.

Had an Airbnb for 11 nights, arrived 2 nights before surgery,5 minutes walk from clinic with direct bus line 10 minutes to Dr`s office. Not necessary to stay that long but I wanted to be on the secure side.
Top location, closed to many sights if you bring your better halv.

B.t.w. my recovery goes very well. Pain-free by day11, just some bruising in scrotum and penis. If size is ok and cycling goes well, highly recommended.

If someone is interested I can be helpful with more information.
