I haven't had my surgery yet, but I did press my surgeon (Dr. Hakky) on this point. He said while there are exceptions longer and shorter, his observation is the IPPs last about 8-10 years. This is over about 2500 implants performed.

The only thing he said that could shorten the lifespan is pulling aggressively on the scrotum, and thus the pump, during sex. This stresses the tubes on the pump and could cause premature breakage.
