Pre-op and a Wrinkle

Postby ElbowRoom » Thu Oct 09, 2025 10:17 am

Hey all…

I had my pre-op visit with Dr. Hakky on Monday, for my surgery on the 21st. Everything went well, ECG was normal and bloodwork and urine looked good. My BP was high, but I expected that considering the stress of the surgery combined with my impending divorce and I had just moved into a new place the weekend before (my back is sore too!). It will come back down, but maybe not until after the surgery.

I was struck again by how great Dr. Hakky is to deal with. He tells it like it is and can easily justify every surgical decision he makes. When you ask him questions he leans in close, looks you right in the eyes, and listens intently. He complimented my on my excellent questions and having done my research and due diligence.

Because of my size he said I’m pretty much locked into a Titan, he estimates a 26cm or possibly 28cm. Honestly I’m hoping for a 26; the 28 is okay for bragging rights, but I think it’s better to have some room to grow for when I need a revision, without having to resort to RTEs. Approach will be penoscrotal with a horizontal incision, pump will be Titan Classic.

I asked about angle and Hakky was frank — I probably won’t get a 90 degree angle, as the saline and weight of the implant will add mass to the penis and likely give it a downward angle. Oh well, nothing is perfect.

Now for the wrinkle…in the last 24 hours I noticed a little discomfort when urinating, especially starting a stream. That’s similar enough to the beginning of my acute prostatitis infection from last year, that I immediately called Hakky’s office, thinking he might want to put me on antibiotics before the surgery since we still have 12 days.

He said he wants a urine culture, even though one was performed Monday and was negative. I’m going to urgent care to get this done in an hour or so and will forward the results to him.

I hope I’m just being paranoid, I hope this won’t impact or delay the surgery. I have been aggressively using a VED, so maybe I just irritated the urethra. Anyway, I guess I’ll know soon. Better this happens 12 days before surgery than 2 days before.

Wish me luck!

Just got back from urgent care. Urine is normal, no sign of infection. They will send it off for a culture, but it looks like I don’t have a UTI (which would be very rare for a man anyway).

They gave me a 7 day course of Cefdinir in case it’s prostatitis, I need to check with Hakky and see if I should take that. He seemed more concerned with a UTI, since I guess prostate infections stay confined within the prostate capsule.

ElbowRoom, that's great news ! FWIW, I had to take an antibiotic right before my procedure and all my Dr did was make a small change to the mix of meds for my procedure. Hang tight things are about to change in a big way !

Has anyone notice that there are a lot of guys on this site with really big dicks? Disproportionate to the general population? I wonder if there is a correlation here.

Thanks Chuck. I haven't started the antibiotic yet, I wanted to get the sign-off from Hakky and left his team a voicemail. I guess if I don't hear from them by mid-morning tomorrow I'll just start the meds. Better safe than sorry.
