Sticky valve? Will it self resolve?

Postby Wodjathat » Fri Oct 03, 2025 7:49 am

When cycling I pumped up and when fairly hard I noticed all of a sudden there was no fluid in the pump.
When I pushed the deflate button it suddenly filled back up. Guessing it came from cylinder, not the reservoir.

I pumped again and got the same problem. I think it is a a sticky valve rather than reservoir running out of fluid.

It happens every time now. I get to about 25 to 30 pumps and the loss of fluid in the pump problem presents.

I also notice I can’t get it rock hard any more implying that at a certain pressure point the valve problem kicks in.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Will this resolve itself or is it a bigger issue? If I need a pump revision how major is the set back?

i think this is a known problem with AMS pump - you can google it and they have some pointers on how surgeons can "Reset" the pump as described by rndnbiker.

for rigi con don't know if the same technology - can ask your surgeon?

Guessing (hoping) it was a relatively minor revision.
How long did it take to recover?

Seeing him this Tuesday. I was booked to go overseas 10 days later for two months.

I’m glad things turned out well for you.

My concern is that my issue has come only after 10 weeks of receiving my implant. I am guessing that perhaps only the pump will need replacing.

Curiosity question. When the valve started playing up or sticking for you did it progressively get worse over time (happen after a fewer pumps) or did it happen at around the same number of pumps or pressure in the cylinders?

My issue only started last Friday so it is very early days. I think it happens at around the 25 pump mark. It is pumped up hard enough I think to have sex but certainly not as hard as I could get it prior to the valve sticking.

I am hoping that the problem is a stable one if that makes sense. The reason being is that in a fortnight I will be travelling overseas for two months. The way it is at the moment it clearly is not ideal but would be workable. I could get by but it would be a real concern if I knew it was going to get progressively worse.

Well could be just give it some time your really early on in this journey and pumps are so stiff make sure your first pump is as fast and hard as you can which will get better in time but that's what sets the valve could just not setting right just my opinion hopefully works out for you

Wodjathat, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you mate that the issue resolves on its own.
Just a thought. Did you receive any documentation for your implant with tips and tricks, FAQs and so on?
If so I wondered if there might be information in it with how to fix glitches like you are experiencing.
In any case I see you are back to the doc tomorrow so hopefully you get an answer there.
71, married, Sydney Oz. PC & nerve sparing RRP Mar 22, profound ED since. Tried pills, Trimix inj, focal shockwave, VED.
Finally implanted Mar 6 2025 AMS 700 LGX 21cm x 12mm, no RTEs, MS pump, Penoscrotal.
Recovery great so far but have a bend.

Cheers, thanks. When I spoke to the person to get the appointment based on what I described to them they suspected that it sounded more like a fluid leakage issue.

They may be on to something. I think that I am beginning to need slightly less pumps for the issue to reappear now. (Was 25 pumps, now it happens around 23 to 24 pumps). I will try and monitor this more closely over the next couple of days. (Appointment has been changed to Thursday)

I would like to think that they will be able to do a number of tests or whatever to work out what the actual issue is. If it is actual fluid leakage I will be fascinated to know where it actually is. Presuming this will determine how much of a revision is required (eg just the pump or the whole lot).

Unfortunately, I am resigned to the fact that I will be more likely than not be undergoing a revision of one form or another in the near future.
