Should I get a free implant or not?

Hi guys,

I'm seriously thinking about getting an implant. As you know its expensive. That said, with my type of insurance I can likely get a free implant with Dr Gregory Amend of NY who does high volume work. But then there's Dr Eid who is considered the best in implants but charges a lot for implants.

I know about Dr Eid who's world famous. But I font know much about Dr. Gregory Amend although I've met him once to discuss implants before. Fyi, I haven't found any complaints on the ne about Dr Gregory Amend regarding implants .

I'd like to know what you guys think. Which doctor do you recommend for me?

Dr. Amend of Mt.Sinai is a Center of Excellence for both AMS and Colopast. That's also a good sign.

Is there a way you could have the surgery with Dr. Eid, and pay the cost difference out of pocket? Might be worth asking your insurer.

DR. Amend did mine yesterday. I have no complaints. I had an overnight stay in the hospital due to my distance from the hospital. I can say yes it early in my recovery but I do like him, spent extra time talking to me and was very caring. Good luck.

I would compare procedures... I don't know the names, I just know that Dr. EID method, I was cycling after 3 days, and could use after 3 weeks. Super fast recovery.

Other doctors its weeks before you can cycle... IMHO AVOID.... sorry. just my opinion.

I am over a year after surgery, and 100% for Dr. EID or at least his procedure. I beleive other doctors do the same method.

I would go and visit Amend, talk to him, what hospital does he use, does he go infrapubic or penscrotal and why. I used a COE surgeon both times and neither were not one of those so called high volume surgeons. I would use either one again.

I get my health care from the VA. In the VA you can use there Dr's or you can go outside of them and use Dr's that are registered for the things you need. I did not want to use VA Dr's for this. They told me Dr. Amend does most of there's. He flys from NY to California and does them every six months. So I started checking him out. We emailed and talked on the phone several times. He is a high volume surgeon highly recommended. I felt 100% comfortable with him. After my surgery I was talking with a resident Dr. that was in my surgery to help. I asked her what she thought of him and my surgery. Point blank she said "He's the best I have ever seen he did a great job on you, you will be very happy" . I feel he is a great Dr. and I do recommend him.

Being I am with the VA I do not pay for my health care.

I am told six weeks for sex. While disappointed I need to wait six weeks, Dr. Amend did explain he wants to ensure full recovery before you begin to use it. He says he see's better results when waiting longer. After having ED for so long six weeks is a walk in the park.

I know everyone recovers differently, I'm on day three, but I have very little swelling and so far no bruising. I'm a little sore. That's to be expected. At this point my reservoir is causing me the most pain. It hurts me when I sit upright and if I laugh it hurts. Hoping my body gets used to this quick.

Its a tough personal choice, I would 100% choose Dr. Amend again. Best of luck to you. Feel free to ask me anymore questions.
