Explanted

Postby Mark1974 » Sun Jul 27, 2025 3:53 pm

I explanted 7/21

The operation was performed by Dr Levine. He did advise against it and instead advised I switch to an AMS in August, but I didn't want another implant.

I am sleeping much better, but am having problems with urinary flow

There is no sexual function

Also, I was explanted through the same sub coronal incision area and have a lot of discomfort and sensation loss in the foreskin and parts of the glans

Be very sure you have the personality for an implant if you get implanted. There is no going back
Born 6/15/74. I have substantial venous leak with fairly severe hour-glassing, but no hard plaques. My urologist is Dr. Laurence Levine who performed a Doppler Ultrasound and diagnosed me with VL in 2020. Surgery scheduled for Coloplast Genesis 5/19/25

Hey man, first things first, take care of yourself. This is not the end of anything. Prioritize your health now and allow for a proper recovery after the shocking and traumatic events your body has been through in such a short time.
Second, I didn't know it was possible to explant the device so soon, but it makes sense to replace it with a different model rather than removing it permanently.
In any case, we need to understand more of the context. What was your background? Why did the doctor choose this option? And why did you decide to have it removed just a few weeks later? I understand physical pain is hard to endure, but was your headspace ready for it? It looks like both decisions may have been rushed, and it seems like once the panic started, you just wanted to go back.
Again, I'm saying this without understanding the whole situation. If you can clarify, it would be great. This community is supportive for a reason. There is always risk involved, but if we can help lighten the burden for each other, we should. Personality has nothing to do with the inner workings of the device.

Mark1974, wishing you the best, and for the fastest path to full recovery. I've read and responded to several of your posts in other threads, and 'I hear' your reasons for taking this path. That said, I would encourage anyone else considering this path to research very, very, very thoroughly before acting.

Mark, aside from ED and your experience with the implant, what exactly is so terrible about your life to consider euthanasia?

I’m sorry but explanting made no sense, and I hope you reconsider your doctor’s advice to have an AMS installed.

But aside from all that, you need to start doing things to get your mental health back online, therapy, drugs, whatever. You clearly have clinical depression among other things going on.

I'm curious why did your own Dr. advise against you doing it?

Oh man you break my heart...it's not late to get the AMS ....it will surely make you feel comfortable...do you have family or relatives nearby ? Penile implant is like a heart valve prosthesis man...why did it hit your psyche so much ? You were much motivated before your surgery...your mental state is surely taking control...you need psych meds to make you think clearly and implant as soon as possible...don't make suicide inevitable...believe me AMS with some xanax and hookers making it up for you is more relieving than euthanasia....you might be even leaving a legacy like dan bionic.
Plz man we all here care for you...seek psychiatric help ...you need some serious xanax as well as other meds and call levine for installing the AMS...and if it's not working out for you euthanasia is still available.

His surgeon advised him against explantation because it means the potential for long-term scar tissue buildup and the inability to recover to the point where implantation of an IPP is possible. In addition, explantation may come with other physical challenges like pain, loss of sensation, fibrosis-driven deformation, etc., that may exceed the issues he's already having. He mentions feeling "lifeless" but a penis that's had the implant removed with nothing to replace it ... I can't imagine it's much better.

Mark, I don't know if you're still reading this forum, but I tried reaching out by other means and I didn't hear back from you. Please get in touch when it's best for you. I'm rooting for you, no matter what.

Well, his doctor suggested he could have the AMS installed in August, so we’ll see. Regardless, I think he needs serious psychiatric intervention.

Never ever make big decisions when you find yourself being in a dark and lonely place. No matter how much you think it is an informed and is the ‘right decision’ at the time,I can pretty much guarantee you that it is not.

Please give you the time and chance to get off the rock bottom before you make any life changing choices. You owe this to yourself.

Take care mate.
