Are you happy with your implant?

Postby AussieGuy81 » Fri May 30, 2025 7:06 pm

Seeing some of these posts with guys that are having issues with numbness and loss of sensitivity, I really feel for those guys.
It has made me wonder if all these videos I see on YouTube, mainly always by urologists are legit about all the positive outcomes and patient satisfaction
43, ED since late 20's, Pills on and off since then increasing strengths with inconsistent results. Now 5mg Cialis daily and either 20mg Cialis or 100mg Viagra
Not sure if it's Psychological or Physiological, long-term use of SSRI's probably hasn't helped

I'm still very happy with it. And so is my wife.

In the pre-op visits, prosthetic urologists hand out brochures that spell out every possible downside.

It's a business... I agree, however, nothing’s hidden in paper, if they did, the hungry lawyers will get them. Like any medical intervention, it comes with pros and cons. Some experience mostly benefits, others face more drawbacks. You will find a mix of both.

Below are the potential complications listed in the Coloplast booklet I received. Some of these may be transient, some can be chronic and some permanent.

IPP
1. Scrotal swelling
2. auto-inflation
3. discomfort
4. angulation/curvature
5. edema
6. device malfunction
7. chronic pain
8. difficulty with ejaculation
9. transient urinary retention
10. fever
11. migration
12. patient dissatisfaction
13. site infection
14. deflation
15. hematoma/seroma
16. wound leakage
17. bleeding
18. delayed wound healing
19. phimosis
20. sensory loss
21. cylinder aneurysm
22. fibrous capsule formation
23. over/under inflation
24. erosion
25. scrotal erythema
26. genital change
27. wound infection
28. inguinal hernia

MPP
1. foreign body response
2. erosion
3. perforation
4. extrusion
5. infection
6. loss of tissue (necrosis)
7. device malfunction (e.g., loss of rigidity, twisting, fracture, separation)
8. impaired blood flow to penis
9. swelling (lymphedema) of the penis
10. hematoma
11. scarring
12. pain
13. incorrect implant position
14. deformity at the head of the penis
15. incorrect sizing
16. inability to pull the foreskin back from the tip of an uncircumcised penis (paraphimosis)
17. voiding difficulty
18. decreased sensation and inflammation/irritation
19. The implant may differ from original erection (e.g. not of equal length or girth) compared to what was previously experienced with natural erections.

Well the small sample size of feedback i have so far kind of matches the quoted satisfaction rates, around that 85% - 95%0 happy.

The side effect of reduced ability to ejaculate worries me a bit. I already take SSRI's for depression and it's already kind of hard to finish with PIV. Who knows though I guess

Thrilled and Happy here in Texas too! Yes, it was scary to take that step but I’m glad I did.
Thankfully I haven’t had any real problems.
It did take time to get back sensitivity.
I would do it again.

It would be interesting to differentiate between younger and more senior patients.

I feel like everybody over 50 is overjoyed like a child from the penile implant while it is more the younger guys who struggle - maybe because they had some residual erectile function, maybe because they need more revisions over life time.

Anybody agrees?

I'm 12 weeks post op. No regrets, I love it.
Would I do it again? Absolutely 100% yes. Like many say, I should have done it sooner.
Is it perfect? No, but it's 1,000% better than profound ED, both physically and psychologically.
Does it still hurt? Flaccid, no pain at all. Erect, only hurts now if I hold it at absolute max inflation for more than 45 mins.
Any numbness? Yes, underneath at the base of my shaft, up to about mid way, but slowly improving. I suspect due to the penoscrotal incision.
Have I regained pre op size yet? Flaccid, yes and more - larger than ever. Erect, no but getting close with cycling.
Is PIV sex good? Yes, and improving. It's no longer painful and mostly feels great. Sometimes I can orgasm, sometimes not.
70 y.o. married from Sydney Oz. PC and nerve sparing RRP 2022, but still profound ED since. Tried pills, injections, shockwave therapy, VED. Finally implanted Mar 6 2025 AMS 700 LGX 21cm x 12mm, no RTEs, MS pump, Penoscrotal.
Recovery going well.

That's dey an interesting point. I also wonder sometimes if there is an over representation of unhappy implanters on here, well because they're unhappy for whatever their reason is, kind of like review websites. Your more likely to go onto a review website if you had a negative experience.
In saying that I've learnt heaps from all the guys on better.
Being 'younger' myself, I am always searching for what other guys experiences have been that are a similar age to me

It might also be, cause we older had ED much longer and suffering longer, so we are happy, now being able to fuck for hours on demand.
I enjoy it to the fullest and am really sorry, nit to have got it much earlier.
