New to this forum and have found all the information and posts very helpful. Looking at surgeons now relative to New England area. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Dr Avellino of Brown Urology. I have been a patient of the Brown Men’s Health clinic to treat my ED and they recommended her. Thanks.

I can't comment on Dr. Avellino, however you'll probably see a lot of men recommending a surgeon who has done a large number of these procedures (100+ per year maybe?). Most of the high volume surgeons will have the designation "Center of Excellence" next to their name on the Coloplast and/or Boston Scientific AMS provider lists.

I would look for providers near you, prioritizing Center of Excellence designation. Then, start searching this site for their names. As an example, I found Jared Bieniek, MD near Hartford, CT on the Coloplast site and I found one very positive review of him on this site. I have no personal knowledge of his skills though - this is just an example. Dr. Avellion's website doesn't even mention this procedure for example - to me that's a bit of a red flag that they may not focus on this procedure.

I live in Denver and I travelled to Houston to see Dr. Clavell. It was totally worth it to travel for me, so don't get too tied into the idea of doing this locally. It is very doable to travel. For example, Dr. Eid in NYC is probably not too difficult to get to and he's one of the legends in the field. The piece of mind you get from reading many glowing reviews about your prospective surgeon is priceless (but no guarantees obviously).

I was implanted in 2017 at mens health in providence. Just recently the implant failed. Nothing wrong with mens health but for revision i decided to go with a high volume Dr and contacted Dr Eid in NYC. Hes 2.5 hours away by car. I did a consult visit and am waiting to schedule my appointment for the surgery. Suggest you use this FT support system and do your research. You will find lots of help here.

I am almost seven weeks post surgery and very happy with my outcome. My surgeon is Andrew Kramer ( located in Yarmouth Port Cape Cod) and the surgery was done at Cape Cod Hospital. Dr Kramer is very experienced in these surgeries and does a high volume of primary and revision implantations. I found him easy to talk with and readily available to address any questions. Cape Cod Hospital has an excellent surgery department, highly highly recommended. If it helps at all, I am a forty year veteran of the surgical device business and have seen and worked with some of the best, and some of the not so best, surgeons and hospitals.
