Survey: How Many Days After Surgery Did You Activate?

Surveying the range of time it took to activate, depending on surgeon.
Please state which device you have; how many days later you activated after surgery and how did it go; doctor’s name (optional)
Tomorrow will be three weeks since my surgery on December 13 performed by Dr. Eid. I have had a rather rough recovery which I have been documenting. My scrotum swelled up to the size of a grapefruit and was quite painful. It only started to come down after about two weeks. The swelling also caused my stitches to open up slightly. That has all greatly improved. However, I have not been able to pump or deflate on my own. Twice in the doctor’s office, the nurse practitioner was able to pump and deflate me. I was able to pump but unable to locate the deflate button because the pump is riding very high in my scrotum, requiring me to twist my hand in an awkward position to grasp the bulb, which is easy to find, but it is painful for my wrist to follow it up to where the release button should be.
I know there is quite a range among different surgeons regarding when to activate. I believe Dr. Eid stands alone in emphasizing such early activation, merely days after surgery. I was rereading his notes that he gives to patients and it leaves me concerned because he states, in bold, “ To avoid permanent foreshortening of the erect penis, it is very important to begin early cycling (postop days 3 to 7) of the device by fully inflating the cylinders until they are fully deployed and straight.”
I have not met this standard, but quite frankly, I think it might be just specific to Dr. Eid‘s beliefs because I believe other highly regarded doctors have you activate much later. Nevertheless, it has added to my agita to think that I am two weeks behind, if indeed I am. So I am curious to see other protocols and how it worked out for other men, and I hope this will be useful to men with recent implants or those who about to undergo the procedure. Thank you in advance for your help.

I activated early (1 wk) by accident - and maybe twice more but have since stopped. I think it DID straighten things up to have done so - but - definitely waiting for things to heal so I dont screw something else up inside there.

5 weeks.
Could have been 4 weeks, as my scrotum was healed up well enough for cycling, but I had an additional incision on my shaft just below the glans to clear out a scar tissue blockage found during installation. The doctor was more concerned about that incision being completely healed up knowing once I pumped this baby up it was going in to a dark place ASAP and would have some stress applied to it. He was absolutely right.
More info in my signature.

About 7 weeks for me. I developed a hematoma after penoscrotal incision so it would've been super painful if I did it any earlier.

6 weeks with AMS 700 CX, MS pump. No issues other than its all new equipment and needs to be broken in. Pump is a bit hard right now but more cycling will soften it up.
Dr. Clavell is my surgeon.

I was left inflated to about 50-60% according to my surgeon. At my two week follow up he tried to deflate me. Once I came down from the ceiling he said we'll wait. At 5 1/2 weeks he deflated me, which was still quite painful. Two days later I inflated for the first time on my own, had sex, hurt like hell afterwards. Then I couldn't find the deflate button, ended up back at doctor the next day to get deflated. Dr. Campbell with The Urology Group in Cincinnati, OH was my surgeon.

It's interesting.
Alot of Doctors seem to have different opinions on this.
Mine got activated on my 6 week check up.
Some seem to be fine much earlier.
I know I was still pretty sore when he had me inflate the first time.
I got it to a point where it started to hurt, then I stopped.
My Doctor said... "No, No, No, you need to keep going"
He then grabbed my pump and gave it about 4 extra squeezes.
Man, did I feel that!

Such a broad range! Seems like each surgeon has a different protocol, and every ‘body’ heals differently and is ready for activation at a different time.
The good news is that it seems that all these divergent paths lead to the same, good place. So I think my doctor is wrong to be so absolutist.

I there was a clear advantage to 3 days or 6 weeks, nearly all the high volume docs would agree at when to start cycling. As you point out, they do not all agree, so it must not matter at all.
IMO, those that tout a 3 days to cycling do so more for marketing than anything else. It's much harder to tell a man that he won't be able to use his dick for 6 weeks and have him choose you over the other surgeon that says "hell yes, you'll have the erection of your dreams in 3 days". What isn't mentioned is what has been stated on this thread, you probably will have VERY little interest in squeezing your nutsack 3 days after surgery.
As I mentioned in my post above, although I was told it may be 6 weeks, I would have been released to cycle and use my new penis as intended at 4 weeks (without the unforeseen extra incision). I can appreciate the expectation management---instead of being disappointed I wasn't ready to go in just a few days, I was thrilled to be ready to go earlier than expected.

Well said! I also think there is a marketing angle and I also think it is better to lower expectations for the patient. I was told multiple times that it would be virtually pain free afree 48 hrs and I would be activating early and using the implant at three weeks.
