Hello, I would like to start lightly bicycling again. Do you have any recommendations on what kind of bicycle saddle to buy? I am based in Europe and my type of bicycle is gravel. Selle Italia saddles have caught my eye, specifically, this one:

Those both look like good choices Eloquent.
I thought I would have lots of problems with my saddle when I was ready to get back on my bike. I ordered some no nose saddles, one was the Hobson Easy Seat because I feared that the pump bulb would be causing pain down there with the other two brothers. The no nose saddle was awful because your sit bones sit right on top of the saddle rather than hugging the saddle. I went back to my two original saddles. I have a ISM 1.1 40 saddle on my 2023 Specialized Tarmac Expert which provides comfort and space to prevent numbness. Here is the link
https://shop-us.ismseat.com/collections ... cts/pl-1-1On my 2015 Sworks Tarmac, I use a Specialized Power saddle, which is comfortable also.
I got back on my bike at 4 weeks for easy miles with the Hobson Easy Seat but it was awful because you always had to adjust your sit bones on top of the seat. I ditched it after a week and sent it back. I switched back to my regular saddles and I didn't have any problems and haven't looked back. The boys don't get crowded by their third cousin, they just find their place in my cycling bibs.
You're going in the right direction
Good Luck, SWorks

Regardless of an implant or not [ i have a malleable] those skinny bike seats are asinine.
when i started riding bikes again and long distance , those bike seats felt like sitting on a 2x4 upturned . who the fock came up with that great idea?
i went and got the original old style wide fuul width seat ,with cushioning , as did others who were tired of having a sore ass . After i had the implant and rode after the recommended time to wait ,i could feel the rods under the body weight on the seat .
i cant imagine if i had tried using that so-called seat you have picked out .
but good luck , each to their own .

I found one of these saddles (
https://www.sq-lab.com/en/products/saddles/) to be very comfortable. They come in different widths, amounts of gap in the middle, and different firmness levels. I have the Saddle 610 Infinergy® M-D active 2.1, and I love it. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny.

I use the same saddle I did prior to being implanted. Zero issues.
Padded bike shorts and a $20 Amazon saddle.

Avid cyclist here. I use ism on my road bike and selle Italia srl superflow (large cutout in the middle) on my MTB. I ride about 200 km per week.

I would like to reopen this topic with the summer behind the door.
I actually found out my saddle on my gravel is not cheap eaither (wtb sl8), I just don know whether its optimal or not for guys with ipp. I do not feel any pain after riding bicycle

Eloquent, I read the reviews for the saddle you have and they are very good. I would try it out and if you are comfortable on that saddle for 40 to 50 plus miles then stick with something you like.
I had to find some saddles where my sit bones didn't hurt during and afterwards on long rides. (This is when you've gotten your sit bones back in shape)
Yeah, there are a lot of saddles out there, so just find something you like.

Hi Eloquent, I agree with SWorks, there are a lot of saddles on the market and many will be suitable. I've posted elsewhere that I'm a fan of Selle SMP, as they were designed for the male anatomy to take the pressure off your boy bits. I have Selle SMP Hybrids on both of my MTBs and find them very comfortable. Also have a Selle Italia leather saddle on my road bike and that's also pretty comfortable. I used to have an older model WTB Speed V Pro Gel saddle on a previous MTB. I've kept it as a spare as it was quite good quality, although I still prefer the others. It's no longer in the current WTB lineup but there appears to be some old stock of those still available online at a reasonable price. Yes, see if you can try a few saddles and work out what suits you as our anatomies are all a bit different.

I haven't tried to get on a bike since my implant (only 2 weeks ago) but my hunch is that I'm not going to need different seats. I have 3 different bikes, all with different seats, so we'll see how it goes in a couple more weeks. Everything else I've tried, like old jeans, etc, has worked just fine. With compression shorts, everything is going to be snug and up out of the way I hope.
