Why is there such a negative view of implants outside of the Internet?

Interesting.
It's true that all surveys show high satisfaction rates with implants.
So why would someone say tell you to avoid implant like the plague?

One reason is probably the perspective. A female doctor/physio and a male without any ED problems whatsoever, will of course think of an implant from their perspective.
The female: She is used to being fucked by men with a working dick. She thinks it sounds weird with an implant.
The male will consider his working dick, and thinking that who wants to have a plastic dick?
And even though both of them intellectually hear what you say, your dick doesn't work properly, it gives you constant stress etc, I think they still don't really get it. They can't put themselves in your situation, and they don't really know what it is to have an implant (or being fucked by an implanted dick in the case of the female).
Hence the spontaneous reaction from them is that they compare the implant to a working dick, not an impotent dick.
They, and most people who don't know the details, will of course have a negative attitude towards a dick with plastic cylinders in it, a reservoir in the belly, a pump in the scrotum, having to manually pump up the dick before sex. It doesn't sound very appealing when you live in a world of problem-free sex with a natural dick. Of course, taking a pill sounds like a much better option.

All of us would of course prefer a working natural dick. I would also prefer to be on pills if I just knew the pills worked. In my case, they helped, but they took me from basically not being able to have sex at all to being able to have crappy sex.
In that situation, an implant is not a bad option. In terms of sex quality, it is a million times better. But you do have the downsides coming with it as well.

Of course there are risks with implants. The infection being the worst. But with top surgeons, the infection risk is <1% for first surgery, and around 1-2% on revisions. Assuming 10 years between revisions, a 40-year old man will need around 4 surgeries. That will take accumulated risk of infection to 5%.
5% is a tangible risk. Small, but still real. We're not talking one in a million or even one in a thousand. We're talking 5 out of 100 men.
Using a low-volume surgeon will take that accumulated risk up to 10-15%.

Within the wild world of implants, Malleables get about as much love as a soggy sandwich at a gourmet feast, from top surgeons to implant newbies. But thanks to thedriver and mbambo, I've found my cozy corner in their Malleable threads. It's like stumbling upon a hidden gem in a sea of skepticism!

If you go that route you will regret it 100% I know who had it and it ruined their lives..

When I speak to my urologist they had a similar reaction.

Yet amongst those with ED the satisfaction rate seems very high, so what exactly is the deal here?

I guess they are coming from the perspective that if I can have an OK sex life then implant shouldn't be considered... But is an OK sex life forever enough? What if it ruins your relationship.. Then what is the point.

What is the point in a working penis if it causes heart attack levels of stress over staying hard and having to stress over pills and injections.

I can get good erections.. With pills but it's constantly stressful, and then it doesn't always work... Sometimes it goes soft after a few minutes... In a way it's far easier to decide when you have full. Blown ED.

Is the fear that you will go to a backdoor surgeon or something?

As long as you go to a top surgeon and pay privately isn't the risk of something going bad miniscule?

Outside of implant specialists and those of us who have had the procedure there is very little knowledge in the general public about penile implants. Years ago it was only for truly last resort cases like spinal cord injuries, etc. So, those who don’t know can be excused for ignorance. Also, a provider of an alternative treatment has a financial interest in keeping you with THEIR kind of treatment.

I had a penis that would fully function, but just not when I needed it most (situational ED). I’m still very new to being implanted, just one month in, but I can tell you my new erection is every bit as good as the natural ones were. You’d never know the difference to feel it. Yes, my balls are all kinds of Fucked up at the moment from swelling, but other than that, I have no regrets so far.

For many years implants were only recommended as a last line treatment. That has changed. It’s now a viable 2nd line treatment after pills fail to work as desired. Choosing a highly skilled surgeon is the most important thing in my opinion.

I remember you saying. With pills and reduced pelvic pain I can get a 100% erection but I stil find it fluctuates between 95 and 80% hard around my partner. Mostly due to the pelvic nerve pain causing sensory issues.

I wonder how an implant would affect pelvic Pain.

How is your size compared to full erection prior?

Thanks.

I would not get the implant unless I had nothing left to lose.

I thought you were happy with it?

Wouldn't an implant be superior to mediocre sex with a weak erection? Curious why your stance is implant as last resort.

Yeah sure something could go wrong eventually but we're all gonna die why would you wait until your completely impotent or something to get an implant. Confused by this.

They suit a certain type of implant candidate. Its no good trying to push something to people when the pros and cons dont relate to them./

If I had an implant the three things that are most important to me are.

-Concealability
-Size
-Rigidity

I would sooner have something i had to replace every 5 years but looked and felt better than something that lasted longer but that I wasnt 100% happy with.

Therefore malleables to me are almost a joke compared to the 3 peice. However to another person that may be at higher risk of a revision problem they are more relaible.
