Crouching After Implantation

Postby satyrum » Tue Jan 02, 2024 6:58 pm

I'm in my hotel room. Will be implanted soon.

There's one refrigerator in my room. A mini refrigerator, placed in a wardrobe/closet. It's on the bottom shelf of the closet. No other shelf is large enough to put this thing on.

If i want to take something from the refrigerator, I have to crouch. It's practically placed on the floor. I'm scared of doing this right after my surgery. It may put too much stress on my abdominals.

Should I place the mini refrigerator on a table? The problem is, I may need an extension cord. I'm not sure. There are only two ways to analyze this situation:

1. I am tripping and overthinking (crouching won't be an issue)

2. Crouching to get ice and food for 7-8 times per day is stupid. Not solving this issue before surgery is idiotic. Old school, text-book retardedness (sorry for the r-word)

Any advise?

everybody is different, but it wouldn't have been an issue for me. I was on the can within 6 hours of surgery, no issues...that's sort of a crouch. Unless you're hefting a 60lb ham out of that little fridge, I would not worry about it.

BUT- I've read and seen pics of guys that look like roadkill with bruises from their belly buttons to their mid thighs. I doubt they would have wanted to crouch. I had no visible bruising and was on a 4 hour plane ride within 40 hours of my surgery without issue.

I agree with Jage64, it depends on the individual.
I had significant bruising and swelling, and crouching would have been very uncomfortable for the first week or two.
If it's convenient, I'd move the fridge just in case, or if you have someone with you, they could help with retrieving stuff from the fridge.

Consider contacting the hotel’s front desk and asking maintenance to move it to the dresser for you. If asked why, just say bending that low to retrieve items is difficult for me.
You’re the customer. The hotel staff should be willing to help you.

Alot might depend on the skill of your dr & if you have had a hernia repair before.

My dr was very experienced & I didn't have any other mobility issues. The day after surgery my wife drove me 450 miles (720km). Like Jage says. I could sit & get up from a toilet, in out of a sofa & bed with ease. But I did make sure to do it carefully. No notcable pain, I had little bruising. If crouching is awkward, be sure to steady yourself with a door or other funiture.
