Dog Ears Titan or AMS

Postby ceekay87 » Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:26 pm

Strongly considering an implant (severe PE and inability to maintain erection) I am consulting with a local urologist/surgeon this Tuesday (12/5). I already know that he only uses the AMS. I consult virtually with Dr. Clevell in January who uses both depending on need, size and desire. I am wanting the Titan Coloplast to maximize girth and length, BUT….Im reading where the Titan Coloplast has issues with dog ears when flacid particularly in men who are well endowed. Although that is NOT the case for as I am about 5 inches erect, maybe 2.5-3 flacid, should that be a concern to ME? The dog ears! Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Dog ears are no problem, don't worry about it. My Titan has them but a few pumps takes care of it. I love my implant and have no regrets, dog ears or not.

I concur with riseagain.
Something to consider: the classic pump on the Titan is quite easy to locate & use and has a very good durability record.

Curious which the Dr recommends and why.

For the Dr who exclusively does AMS (BS) I'd be asking him why AMS is a good fit vs the Titan and if he can't answer that would concern me.

Granted I’m just 5 days post op…the dog ears are the least of my concerns. As others mentioned, with 1-2 pumps your dick fills out and it’s just like a larger flacid than you had before.

What MAY concern you though, is the appearance of your dick after fully deflating it. I swear I almost passed out in the doctors office when they deflated it fully and I saw it LOL. Literally looked like my dick got ran over my a truck 100 times. But that lasts maybe 5 min then returns to normal state without pumping. Or, you can add a pump and it immediately goes back to a non road kill looking dick lol.

Dog ears are not a problem and shouldn't be the deciding factor . In the beginning when your implant is new they are noticeable. Like others have said ... a few pumps and they round out . I've also noticed (I'm months post op ) that as you cycle the implant will soften up . I don't even feel any dog ears anymore.

there are very few men on FT that have had both Titan and AMS implanted, and had no other unrelated implant issues that affected their experience with each. Meaning, no two experiences with the different implants are identical.

Users can only report on their individual experience with the implant they have. So, I'll chime in with my experience with my AMS CX.

I also consulted with Dr. Clavell, and did so not only because he was highly recommended, but also because he offered both the Coloplast and the AMS products. I didn't want to go to a surgeon that only offered one or the other, because there is a clear and definite difference between the two implants, and if I happen to be a square peg I would be forced into a round hole with only one option (I could have used a better analogy... ;) ) My goal was the very best outcome for me, not the best outcome in relation to a single style of implant.

Prior to my consultation I had done weeks of research and was leaning towards one of the implants. After my consultation with Dr. Clavell I asked him what he would recommend for me. He repeated that the decision was mine, especially since he could tell I had done the research on both. I pressed him to give me his opinion, which he did. He recommended the AMS CX for my application, which is what I had been leaning towards on my own. (The LGX, although the lengthening sounds appealing, look into that one very carefully before proceeding. I think there's a reason Coloplast has not copied that technology even though we ALL love the thought of pumping in more length)

I'm almost 10 months post op and couldn't be happier (like many men with Titans too). I'm well aware that for 99% of the rest of my life my penis will be snugly tucked away in my pants. For me, the comfortable flaccid was important. It looks natural flaccid, it feels natural flaccid, it acts 100% naturally while flaccid. At gametime it comes alive and provides everything my wife and I need it to (and more) for as long as we need it to (forever). Then, it goes back to being something I don't ever think about until I whip it out to pee, and then I'm happy all over again that I have it.

Girth is largely decided by your anatomy and not the implant. Even when not installed in a body, the difference in girth between the two implants is minimal, put them into a penis and those tissues will likely be the limiting girth factor, probably not the cylinder girth itself. I believe the girth argument is not worth having while considering which implant to choose. Dr. Clavell himself said to me on an in person follow up "I can tell you've been cycling, your girth is the same as a Titan". I think what he meant was that I had maximized the AMS within my own limiting corpora, he could feel it. I don't believe that a woman's vagina can tell the difference between 5.75" of girth and 6" of girth (4" and 6"? sure, but 1/4"?... I don't think so)**. Women are about the mental side of sex, men are about the physical side. WE want that extra 1/4" of girth for our own reasons.

Studies have shown that rigidity between the Titan and the CX is virtually identical, in my personal case, my wife prefers 80% inflation, I don't need the last 20% to accomplish my "goals". I cycle to 100%, but when deployed for pleasure it is not needed.

I've never had a dog ear or any type of discomfort, my penis is soft when flaccid, it hangs like a natural penis and I don't worry about looking like I have a boner when I don't. I don't worry about locker rooms or gym shorts or grandkids on my lap, unwanted bulges or crinkly noises. It doesn't look like roadkill or is in any way misshapen when deflated. My pump doesn't show in my sac and doesn't squeak or squeal when pumping.

It has been repeated on FT a few times that "I got an implant for maximum erection, not maximum flaccid" (or something like this). I can understand the sentiment, we're all 12 year old boys when it comes down to brass tacks. We all want the biggest boner we can get. But, be honest, the flaccid state will be what your dick will be in for virtually the rest of your life (I know, I know.... bunch of you guys are boning 5 girls a night 6 days a week) If you average your sex opportunities from right now to the day you die, your deployed hours are laughably negligible. I don't want to be 90 yrs old shuffling around a family gathering with a semi-boner, and I also don't want to be 59 yrs. old and worried about whether or not I look like I have a boner at the gym or at the beach with my grandkids.

You're doing the right thing by consulting with doctors that offer both. There are many of us that had the pleasure of being implanted by Dr. Clavell here on FT, and we all didn't come to the same conclusions as to which one is best for them. I know Dr. Clavell installed a Titan in a man just an hour before he installed an AMS in me, I can only assume he's as happy with his as I am with mine.

**The famous sex researchers Masters and Johnson have concluded that size of the male penis can have no true physiological effect on female sexual satisfaction. They base this conclusion on their physiological studies that show that the vagina adapts to fit the size of the penis. Because of this vaginal adaptation, they refer to the vagina as a potential space rather than an actual space. (Emphasis added

Jage64 says a lot in his post. His feelings, expectations & results match mine pefectly. I also have a CX 21cm but no rte's. My goal & desire for an implant was to get back as close to what I had before ED struck as possible. My natual penis served me well for almost 50 years. Sure, the male voice in my mind wanted more but the reality is that seldom will you end up with more length & girth than what your body is capable of producing. Now, at seven moths post surgery. I have my 6" girth back & basically all of my length. I never had accurately measured my length pre ED. But I was able to hit my wifes cervix fairly easily. When she had a coil for birth control I could feel the string often. Best I can tell I have my original length back also.
Men with LGX's generally report similar results. The makers of implants seem to of done a good job of serving the market. My opinion on implant choices is to worry more about your dr selection. Lots of drs can install & size the implants correctly. There isn't a bad implant on the market in the USA. So get the model with the fewest undesirable quirks as possible. Yes, my CX has dog ears. My first discovery of one was it hurt quite abit. That went away very early on. Now when I feel one it isn't noticable or painful at all. I do have a larger flacid size but it can't be confused for a partial erection. It hangs down very normally looking. Its just larger than original. Btw, my wife says it isn't larger but I disagree with her. I haven't had a negative thing to say about my CZ for many months. My pump works flawlessly. Its easy to inflate & deflate every time. My only issue with it is related to my abnormally deep cruz which left my pump high. The benefit to where it is that during pumping it won't escape my fingers. The high pump is not a deal breaker for me. My dr has offered to lower it. After I've had it for a year I might consider his offer.
Finally, in my opinion. If you're even remotely concerned about the Titans reported negative aspects. Give the CX an honest consideration. It should deliver in your penis the same good points as a Titan without the downsides. And YES you can get at least a 6" girth with it if YOUR penis will accommodate a 6" girth. I'm proof of that.
Best wishes & luck to those whose path in life is going to involve an implant. Your love life will thank you for it.

Just do it... with an IMPLANT DOC tho and Titan.

I went thru my Kaiser insurance instead with Baldwin Park Dr. Mirheydar in June and regret it so much. First He recommended LGX.. but with his pisspoor install, the corporotomy ruptured and cylinder buldged. Had revision 3 weeks ago to Titan Genesis pump, which is MUCH better, but he still didn't do what we agreed upon prior to the revision. (It was this assurance that made me let him do it again)

Anyway, like Clavell recommends if your young and having vigorous sex go with Titan. And genesis pump if you dont have dexterity issues. AMS pump was horribly uncomfortable and visible thru scrotum. At our average penis lenthgs, dog ears arent an issue imo.
45yo , AMS LGX 700 18.5cm 6/28 by Kaiser Dr. Moheydar - Baldwin Park, do not recommend. 12 wks LT cyl failure and bulge. Rev to Titan Genesis 11/6. Consulting 2nd doc for issues not corrected 1/11/24
