How do you shower soon after surgery?
How do you shower soon after surgery?
Do you clean the incision? If so, how do you go about that?

Re: How do you shower soon after surgery?
Dr Clavell cleared me to shower on day 2. I use one of those soft shower puffs with liquid soap. Anti microbial is probably a good idea, but i didn’t use that.
Soaped up the pump and gently just dabbed at the incision site until the stitches dissolved. Then resumed normal pressure abs bathing of the area. No problems. 5 months postop now.

Different Docs, give different advice.
From what i heard, Hakky advises to keep the incision dry (correct me if i'm wrong) for as long as possible.
Clavell advises to shower after 48 hours and rinse (not scrub) the incision with regular soap and water, then pat dry (daily).
When you google, most clinics suggest that generally, after 48 hours, surgical wounds can get wet without increased infection risk (shower, not soaking in bath).
Personally i think it may be a good idea to not shower for a few days after sugery.
But just listen to your doctor, they will tell you how to handle it
