Am I cycling too agressively?

Postby Walther » Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:36 pm

Hi everyone, I have another question and hope for some support from the bionic brotherhood!

I´m at 8.5 weeks post OP and cycling for 3 and a half weeks by now. The last week or so, I- noticed that the pain when pumping to the max increased in a way that my glans hurts earlier and forces me to deflate after around 30 minutes already (as pain becomes too much to handle). Before that, I used to cycle on average around 2 per day for around an hour each time to full extent - adding also pumps towards the end of the hour to get it to absolute maximum. I also noticed that with increased inflation time, I get quite the pain in the scrotum and also "stretching" towards the butt area at the latest stages of my cycling windows (would say on average after 30 minutes) - it´s a sharp kind of pain starting from tip and going down through scrotum and butt area.

Therefore my questions: Should I check with my surgeon? Have you guys experienced something similiar? Shouldnt it get better over time than the opposite? Am I worrying too much and was I overdoing it with the cycling before?
Important to note is that the pain is basically ONLY when being fully inflated, after I deflate and during the day there is no major pain and the general discomfort gets better from week to week.

Thanks a lot in advance

Sounds to me that you might have been overdoing the cycling a bit.

When I first started cycling, I could pump to max and I would start having pain around 35 to 40 minutes into the cycling behind my glans where the tips of the implants are.

My doctor wanted me to cycle once a day for 10 to 20 minutes in the shower. This was to help gain some loss in length, before the surgical capsule formed around the implant.
I also did extra warm sitz baths when ever I could, usually once a day, when my wife was out walking or shopping. I would get in the warm tub of water and pump up to about 50% and do the Dr Preito exercises, stretching up, down, side to side for about 5 minutes and then I would pump up to max and leave it as long as I could until the pain got too much which was around 40 to 45 minutes at the beginning.

At the beginning of cycling I could never make it to an hour with max inflation, just too much pain.

Hopefully you've just bruised something internally, and also maybe a possible micro tears of tissue.

I think you should definitely let your implant doctor know what is going on.

Do take it easy until you can get an appointment.

Good Luck, I hope you get well soon

As I said on another thread, I think you can definitely overdo it with cycling.
I'm not a doctor, but common sense tells me that pumping up to the point of mild or moderate pain indicates stretching the tissue.
Severe pain could mean you are tearing tissue, which will cause scar tissue, and I suspect could actually result in less elasticity and a shorter erection.

When cycling, I stop pumping when I start to feel pain. No sense in going beyond that.
Also, at that level I can easily tolerate an hour or more of duration.

Exact same thing happened to me. I did a post up about this recently too.

I have now reduced the intensity of cycling and it seems to have helped.

Try going 2 x 30m or 20m, gradually increase.

PAIN is your body warning you to STOP doing whatever you're doing to cause it.

Act contrary to that warning at your own risk.

I implanted the prosthesis eight weeks ago, and honestly I can't use it at all. The prosthesis works, the doctor showed it to me, but for pumping and afterwards also for deflating, the pain in the scrotum was enormous, and in fact I still can't use it for this reason, I would like to understand how many people this has happened to, and after how long it was resolved?

Experiences vary widely but there seem to be more men here complaining about some pain which limits how much that they can cycle.

Personally, I never experienced any pain post OP from my surgery or while cycling. At 9 wks post OP, I feel still feel the stretch but hardly any discomfort at max but my experience does not appear to be the norm.

Sounds like you were sized a bit on the aggressive side. Just back off a little and let the implants do their job slowly. You didn’t mention how your size is compared to pre op. If it’s anywhere close as in within a 1/2” then you’re just stretching it back out. If you’re at your original size just back off and it will gradually get a bit bigger. As stated in other post just listen to your body and don’t push it too much. It will all work out in the end. The pain you’re explaining is the implants pushing out in the only two directions they can push. You now have a pretty solid tip in both ends. It takes a while to toughen it all up to where it comfortable

This is a really good point. For some of us who were sized aggressively, it may be a good idea to take it easy on the cycling.

I myself, was sized 2cm extra due to TEP, cycling has been excruciatingly painful for me. I have now cut down in intensity and time, and seems to be a bit better.

Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
